Almost there!

Sold my SSR to a great guy in Florida...hopefully if all goes according to plan, he will be flying in this weekend and picking up my pride and joy for the last 4 1/2 years! Also, my clubman is scheduled to arrive in NY Friday so who knows when it is going to be here. Will be carpooling till then. So glad my SSr went to someone who will put the love and care into it like I did.

Chevy SSR? Hot looking ride.
That had some terrible fuel economy.
Did you average much over 16 mpg?

I loved that SSR like no other vehicle in my life. MPG were 15 in town, 19 on highway, but on cruise control, I often got 23 on the highway. Unfortunately, cars don't last forever, and looking down the road, the intense cost of replacing parts on such an exotic vehicle was beyond my reach so I had to let her go. I am sure my ClubmanS will make up for the loss though!

Seriously? Exotic Chevy? It didn't have the same parts under the hood as other GM cars?

Honestly, I'd tend to guess that MINI parts are a lot more expensive than Chevy parts, but then again I know nothing about the SSR other than it's a very expensive truck like vehicle that you can't really use as a truck.

Actually, it was pretty exotic. It has the corvette engine and tranny. Oversized brakes, lots of luxury items like power seats, heated seats, self tinting mirrors, pretty much every power luxury you could get, a carpeted bed which when lined with a tarp, enabled me to haul mulch. The retractable top stored vertically so it left lots of trunk space to haul art or mulch. It was and still is the only hard top that stored vertically ever! The critics in the mags are the only ones who said it was not practical. Of course, they are also the same ones who said to make it already and then tore it to pieces when it was made. Talk to someone who owns one and you will get a very different story. The parts to make this thing came from all over the place and yes, it is exotic for chevrolet. This was pretty much a custom hot rod from the factory with somewhat of a practical side. As with all rods, things will need tinkering and replacing over time and I wanted a new adventure. The getting this is going to be having a very good time for a very long time. The thing is incredibly strong, safe and well built.
