Turn signal springs

I have noticed that the "resistance" on the spring "stop" on the turn signal stalk is much higher in the turning right position than in the turning left position...

Because of this, it's very often locking in the "always on" positon when I am just doing a lane change to left - and I'm doing that pretty regularly since these mini-beasts are meant for driving in the fast lane!

Anyways - has anyone else noticed this? - can it be adjusted?...

Remember that your turn signal stalk in this car is electronic. First "stop" is for 1 or 3 flash sequence (example: switching lanes). Second "stop" is for full left or right turn signal. You can cancel by tapping the stalk towards the center.

I was used to the mechanical stalk in my '05 R53 S, but the electronic one makes sense once you get used to it.

Hi ClubmanS -

The problem I am having is that the first "stop" for the left turn signal is extremely "loose" and it mostly goes straight to the 2nd "stop"... Turning right is no issue - the first stop is very clear from the second...

Does this make more sense?...

Mine is like that too BUT the opposite. The left is extremely tight so it takes muscle at times to click to that second stop for constant flash. It's a bit annoying

So yes, any adjustments for these? Going to the dealer on Tuesday so maybe they can loosen it a bit???

Ok gotcha. Hmmm I have to check my stalk to see if there are any differences as you have noted.

My left intermediate signal stop is weak and I frequently miss it when trying for a lane change.

I hated the electronic signal switches when I test drove the MINI.

Hope it grows on you...
