AH! What to do?

and now the dilemma. I originally placed my order from another dealership which quoted me an extra month for delivery, and they got it first! What do I do? Cancel the order (which is coming in Monday at the newer ordered dealership), and pick up the car from the dealer I had my initial deposit with to have it for the weekend? I feel awful for canceling the order to begin with, but I would like to take my car to the initial dealer for service. Now, I'm all sorts of conflicted.

So you currently have two open orders, and one car has already arrived, while the other car is arriving Monday?

Since it sounds like you're going to have to refuse delivery on one of them anyway, you may as well go with the initial dealer, since you can get the car sooner and that's where you want to take the car to be serviced anyway.

I actually cancelled the deposit at the 1st dealership after I got the eta from the second one. They ordered the car anyway thinking they could sell it easily. The MA at the 1st dealership wanted to give me the heads up just incase I hadn't gotten the car yet (which I haven't).

So, I decided to take delivery on Monday from the second dealership. They were right on the money with regard to the delivery date, and although I would have loved to give the 1st my business, the 2nd dealership was accommodating and spot on with everything they told me.

I'd go with the MA you like the most - if there is a difference in your opinion between the two. Have to hand it to that first MA for calling you, even though you'd cancelled. You'll build up good will with him should you ever decide to trade - and you do want to take it there for service...which we all know should not make any difference. Both cars are exactly the same?

Yeah, both cars are exactly the same. Both MA's were great, thus making this a terrible pickle.

but for anyone who is looking for a Lightning Blue Cooper Clubman S with a Silver roof, silver racing stripes, Multifunction steering wheel, Sunroof, grey/black leatherette seats, 16' wheels with all season tires (the rest being stock), I can PM you the location of the dealership which will have it in stock.

Well, the actual quality/competency of service should be the same whether you bought your car from the service dealer or not, but some dealers *do* have policies favouring those that bought from them, such as free loaner cars while your car's being serviced.

If all else is truly equal, I'd probably rather have the car serviced where I bought it.

I'd rather do that too, Scott. I think the loaner issue would be something important, as well.

Since our pal here likes both MAs equally well, then it seems as though the best choice is to go with the dealership that he/she prefers.

What do you think lvxv? Too bad you can't set up a quick poll.

So weird, that's exactly that same car that I just ordered here in Pittsburgh. All you need to do is add heated seats and driving lamps.

Not that it helps you at all, but i thought it was quite the coincidence...

HA! I was thinking the same thing. In the end, I'm going to wait till Monday. I turned into a giddy kid when I was told I might be able to get it early, but the right thing to do would be to reward the MA and dealership who were right on the money. So I'm going to wait till Monday. Thanks for your help guys, you have kept me sane on this long wait. I'll be sure to post photos as soon as she comes home with me Monday.

And a beautiful choice if I may say so myself. I thought about the heated seats, but I figured the car would probably heat up rather quickly anyway. So I decided to forgo them. By driving lamps do you mean the Xenon headlights?

i would normally skimp on the heated seats myself, but, alas, the joys of marriage...

and no, i just got the regular headlights. by driving lights i mean the 2 extra ones mounted on the middle of the grill.

now i just wish it would show up. the dealer (only one in pittsburgh) told me the wait was up to 10-12 weeks. at least that means it'll be here in time for my birthday in august...
