My Clubman with black C-pillars

Here is mine, had it for a month.
Local dealer had it in their lot, had everything I wanted.
What's interesting is that the built sheet said silver pillars but it has black. I checked the VIN and all look correct. Worked out better for me, I wanted the black anyway. No waiting, about $1000 below MSRP, happy with it. Thanks for looking

That is cool! I just tried the configurator and sure enough, that combination isn't allowed! Looks like you got some kind of factory mistake. Could turn out to be collectible one day

Enjoy

or a swap that was done on the lot (or on a testdrive)...those pieces pop off easily with a couple of handtools. collectible?

I highly doubt there was a mistake. More likely the dealer swapped them from another car (and probably charged for it too).

that's actually very, very illegal and doubtful they'd do that (federal crime). more likely, it wasn't done on the up and up

Why do you say that? Just curious

Hahah perhaps someone with a Pure Silver car wanted matching c-pillars so the dealer just traded with one of the lot cars

Whatever the reasoning behind it....I like it. It's certainly unique

I'm sure we'll start seeing more of this swapping in the future. Someone might have silver pillars and want black ones and someone might have black ones and want silver... Might have to start a "Clubman Pillar Swap" thread...

Seriously, I think you lucked out very nicely!

changing the vehicle's equipment vs. what's on the factory build sticker is a big no-no. that's why dealers use those sidebar stickers for add-ons/upgrades. No, in the case of the pillars, it's not a big issue, but the laws are pretty clear.

I could see swapping the C-pillars out would be easy, but what about the black striping on the bumper? Seems more factory to me. Congrats on your unique Clubman.

it all goes on/off the same way. The bumper strip is separate, just like the pillars

Looks great. I bet the dealer swapped them out because someone wanted the silver pillars instead of black. What percent tint is that and what color is your interior?

There's nothing illegal about swapping trim pieces as long as it's disclosed..........it's done all the time.

Hmmm

A guy wants to show off his new ride and now all this.
One moment, it's all , next minute it might be illegal, switch and hidden charges, questionable conduct, and a repaint. Gee, thanks guys You sure know how to kill a buzz. I am very happy the pillars are not silver, was too much contrast for me. So whatever the "story" might be, worked out better for me.
