R55 Is it just me or...
I kinda had a feeling that people would start referring to it as the "Clubby". It doesn't really bother me per se, but I personally refer to it as the Clubman.
I think because it is so new, that maybe the nick name novelty will wear off quickly?

Oh, there was a huge discussion about that over in the OL. The problem is that the Clubman is actually pronounced Clubmen, so how the heck are you supposed to distinguish between more than one. I'm not sure that anyone ever figured it out.
I pronounce one a ClubMAN, just checked with Lois
More than one, I'd probably say ClubMEN. Clubmans does not sound right.
A Clubby works for me, as would a gaggle of Clubies
Or is that a pride of Clubbies, or a herd of Clubbies....

Which is a good reason to use "Clubbie"
I'm thinking maybe- even though BMW can't use it- the general public should just call 'em Travellers.

I'm in the "Clubbie" camp. I've seen the term used for the original Clubman so it stuck with me. But I will use the term interchangeably with Clubman.

We don't own 2 MINI. We own 2 MINIs. My MINI's roof is white, my wife's MINI's roof is a rag top.
If you said you were at a club event and there were many MINI there it would sound wrong. If you said there were many Clubman there, it would also sound wrong.
I would tend to say; We had lots of MINIs at the last event, and there was a few ClubMEN/Clubbies there too.
I also think it is time for me to get the silly smell checker to stop underlining Clubman/Clubmen

I actually think the "Clubbie" terminology started around here as a way to navigate around the plural-thing. "Clubbies" is pretty straight forward. I didn't know it was a historical thing, too...that's pretty cool. Anyway, diminutive forms of any noun is meant to be endearing and how can a MINI not fit into that category. It even fits more when you see a Clubman in person as it is still very MINI.

I prefer Clubby or Clubbie (depending on the region) to what someone unfortunately made the mistake of calling mine.........
