XM for my Clubman

Just drove our new NightFire Red Clubman home. I took the Blitzsafe XM adapter out of the old MINI with the intent of putting it back in the clubman. But, the wire harness I tapped into on the right rear of the mini isn't in the same place on the Clubman. Anyone know if the same adapter can be used for the Clubman and where the wire harness might be?

Congrats on the new Clubman & welcome to NAM.

From what I've been able to gather so far the answer is no the Blitzsafe won't work in your Clubman.

If anyone does come up with a way to get XM in a Clubman, please let me know. I'm planning on buying an ExpressRC and using the AUX jack, but I'd love to use the steering wheel controls if possible.

Just curious as to why you'd want to use a Blitzsafe box for your XM connection instead of the "Aux-In" already available. Would the Blitzsafe box offer any additional features, or is it just that the wiring would better suit your install?

Blitzsafe XM Direct does NOT work with the R56 or the R55 (Clubman). MINI is using a fiber optic bus (MOST) to transmit audio data which in turn feeds the head unit.

I purchased an XM Xpress R - it works through the Aux input and it matches exactly my Piano Black trim. Using a TuneDok cupholder mount. Almost as good as XM Direct.

I use an xm roady and the aux input. Works great, just can't change stations from the wheel. I keep the remote in the car so I don't have to fumble by the cup holder. Also some have reported more drop outs using the sirius factory antenna, I opted to use the supplied xm antenna and have it mounted just behind the factory antenna and the wire hidden all the way to the cubby area.

I've contacted blitzsafe a couple of times about a xm solution for the R56, they say none is in works. I'd definitely spring for the unit if it became available. If enough pound on them, maybe they will. With the clubman and next year the R57 convert, followed by an mini SUV, you'd think they'd develop it. I'm also assuming that BMW is now using the optical bus, in the past the bmw and mini unit I think were identical. Contact customer support and tell them to develop the interface!!! (I have twice now.)

That's good to know that it matches. My dealer accidentally ordered my Clubman with the piano black, and though I have nothing against the way it looks, I don't want to pay the extra $250. But if it matches the radio I'm getting, it'll make me a little less displeased.

I never even knew you could use the Sirius antenna with XM.

What's the number to that company? I want to call, too. Maybe they're just waiting for the merger to go through.
