Just picked this up last week. Only 60k on the OD. I added the roof racks and just did oil catch can, spark plugs, and blackout headlight and grill trim. Plan on detailing the engine bay tomorrow. Ordered an Android head unit should be here in a week or so then rims when I get my tax return.

Not the most glamourous of locations, but here is the newest addition to the family.
Hot Chocolate, with lounge leather pan roof, and a few teething troubles to works through, but not bad for its age and mileage.
It's a work in progress, and I'll do my best to update as I progress
Brand spankin' new to Minis, but I couldn't pass up a deal on this JCW with 70k on the clock and about 20-25 hail damage dents.
Interested in learning from others, sharing what I know, and enjoying this little guy. I mostly know VWs, but have had a number of other vehicles. Other ride is An E39 5 speed 325i.
Those seats look fab!, I have to say Hot Chocolate Lounge leather is nice, but those look great.......I'm sure you will love the new ride

It was a nice thing to visit the production lines and see how the cars are assembled, in Body In White, I had a very interesting conversation with one of the shift engineers.
He explained how every 500 bodyshells produced two are taken off the line, and subjected to NDT and destructive testing as a quality control measure, those are the two I pictured on dollies to make them maneuverable off the cradles.
The NDT is carried out on all of the spot welds using an ultrasound to measure weld penetration, size, placement etc, while the DT is carried out by physically pulling apart the welded joints, measuring the force to do so.
The paint area was off limits, but the CAB was not, and it was an interesting to see how each car was fitted with a transponder which was scanned at each part of assembly to allow the operators to fit the correct specification parts to the shell as per the vehicle order.
It was certainly an awesome day !!
Here's the newest member of our family. We picked up Ziggy in September to replace my wife's R53 lovingly known as Grumpy. Ziggy is a 2011 MCS Clubman with only 48k 1-owner miles on the clock at purchase. Hot Chocolate Metallic exterior, Chocolate Lounge Leather interior, panoramic roof, and auto trans. I've found a few rough edges that we've been working through, but this is a 12 year old car that appears to have been kept outside. Our 8 year old is loving the Clubdoor, and she and my wife are loving the extra space throughout. Grumpy hasn't quite left the stable yet, so my wife drives him when she's missing the manual trans.

What kind of paint was used to do the valve cover......was parts of the valve cover removed for prep and paint......
Very nice indeed, I could be biased looking at the colour scheme of Ziggy, but he does look somewhat like Errol
Congratulations on the new wheels.

I bought this 2012 S CPO in 2014 with 36k miles. I was looking at a 1 series and this as I wanted that BMW handling. Chose this because it would fit our tennis ball machine in the trunk and it had more headroom than the 1 series (or a 2022 Toyota 4Runner for that matter. ) I’m 6’2” and so are my boys now and I will sit in back. Little did I know the suspension wasn’t BMW so i put in some Konis and a RSB.
I handed the car down to my daughter. She hated me for making me learn to drive stick. But she loves it now. She then handed down to my first son. He made this canoe in school and brought it home this way.
Youngest is learning to drive and he said he only wants to drive stick.
The car is getting long in the tooth at 106k miles. Fuel injector just went, turbo is probably next. Got it home and the lights wouldn’t turn off. FRM module needs work now.
I came here to see what else may go to decide if I’m going to keep the car.

Duplicolor Spray Paint was used. Yes, the aluminium valve cover can be disassembled, but there is one blind screw that cannot be accessed because it is permanently sealed under the diaphragm cap that lies beneath the topmost removable cover. However, with measured, yet constant upward force on the diaphragm cover (attacked from different angles), the screw ultimately could be pried free. Anyone trying this has to have a patient soul so as not to damage the underlying seals while prying. Alternatively, after the topmost cover is removed (by design), masking tape can be placed on the remaining surfaces to prevent paint overspray and removal of the blind screw in the bottom cover does not have to be addressed.

I'll definitely be ordering one then.......thanks for the reply...
