They Are Here

I was driving by the local dealer today... ( Hendrick Mini ) Charlotte, NC and there was one with the doors open parked on display.

Yep, Queso stays and the new one is for AK. "S" PW/S with silver stripes and Gray interior panels. Automatic. The ultimate mommy-mobile!

I got to poke around the Clubman this evening, too....very, very nice. Those rear doors are amazing!!! I really like the contrasting C-pillars, too.....very classy. There was a PS/B, a PW/B, a NFR/S, HC/S, and a LB/S. Noteworthy were the black C-pillars (on PW and PS) and the special Hot Chocolate interior. Yum!! The clubdoor was cool, too....folks are gonna love this thing. It still looks pretty darn small...I'm impressed!!

Should be the last week in March or first week in April. The last two MINIs I ordered both came in 7 weeks.

I thought BMW wouldn't allow any off the lot till the official release date.
I've waited for mine for 25 months now, but it's coming into California Sunday, so not much longer to wait. I've gotten used to being patient after waiting 764 days.

my dealer's philosophy on the demo cars was that if I wanted to buy one I was more than welcome to. I was the only person to drive it once it got to the dealership aside from the tech. My paperwork says "5" miles on it.

I just couldnt bear the thought of anyone else enjoying my car before I purchased it--so I literally ran to my car when they told me it was finished being PDI'ed.

Congratulations! I am so happy you like it. After reading so many negative comments after it first came out I felt bad, but then I remembered that it only mattered that I liked it. It will have been worth the wait.

Which color did you get?

They arrived late Thursday in Columbus, OH. All pre-sold, of course, but I got to poke around a blue/silver "S" model when it was in for dealer prep.

Dealer was surprised, as they were told they wouldn't get here until right before 2/16 public release.

I'm going down to my dealer and see if mine is here. A friend told me the other day that the dealer may let me have it before the release date. Now that some of the dealers have them why not get it early, we have an event this coming weekend, it would be cool to show up in the Clubman.

The Clubman is here and several of us descended upon the dealer today. Many test drives and much poking about have taken place over the last few days and the car is definitely a full-on MINI. The added function is superb. Attention to design detail is excellent. Handling is spot on, although I will say, given all the suspension/wheel/tire combinations available right now, it's hard to compare apples-to-apples with MINIs. Anyway...with any package, the Clubbie performed shockingly well when pushed.

I'm drive a coupe because that is what I need, but the Clubman is indeed going to be great fun!!

Getting close

I talked to a dealer who has a pepper white with all the bells and whistles that I want plus a few extras I didn't know that I wanted .

Now only to convince the wife that I need $1500 in extras.

BTW what is the advantage of the xeon headlights

Xenon headlights give you superior visibility at night over the stock halogens, with beam that is whiter and doesn't fade out the further ahead you look. There is a more distinct cutoff of light at the end of its beam though.

For me the only "must have" options would be the xenons, LSD, and the multi-function-wheel. And on the Clubman those 5 spoke 17-inchers. Other than that I'm a pretty simple guy I guess.
