Just ordered a Mini Vert. The wife had it between a Mustang GT vert and the Mini. She was shaking after driving the GT and not in a good way so back to the Mini dealer we went. 40K later OW, we ordered it.

I drove both myself -- and also chose the MINI.

Welcome to NAM. Post pics when it comes in.

Thanks for the welcome!

She went with the dark silver metallic. My fav as well. I really loved the mustang in the alloy clearcoat metallic, the rumble of the V8 and the history. But I have to admit. The Mini was a blast to drive. Im sure Ill have to sneak the keys here and there!

The burble and blower whine will grow on you. Truely a lovely song!

We had it down to a Mustang GT convertible, Miata hardtop convertible or MINI cabrio, the 3 M's.

We were torn b/w the Mustang Gt and Mini as well & now.. everytime I see a Mustang I think to myself "Boy I'm glad I didn't get that!" b/c they ARE so common & have much less personality

I couldn't agree more! I know some of the popular automotive press has been hard on the MINI motor, but you never hear that from owners.

I considered the Mustang also- sounds like more people considered it than I would have thought. It had a larger trunk (who cares?) and overall room, but the MINI is far more exclusive. I read in Car & Driver or somewhere similar on a review of the newest Mustang convertible something to the effect of "popular with 18 year olds all over again" which could not have turned me off me. And it's so true. I'd like to think my tastes are a little more sophisticated 20 years removed from high school.

That sounds familiar. I think everyone gets that way waiting for their car. Just take her to the dealer a few times and let her sit in one. (just kidding, that's painful)

Anyone been to the Tail of the Dragon meet? We were hoping to go but cannot make it this year but next year for sure. Y'all watch out! BYE!

Where are you located? Did you find the Orange threads a bit further down the forum? I've not been to the Dragon with the Mini Group, but I've been there in the Mini and with my motorcycle.

TOTD & Minis

Hi, Thanks for the prompt response. I just got my Mini last week and it will be residing in Western NC next month. We have heard so much about Tail of the Dragon. My husband has a Harley and he cannot wait to give it a try. He better watch out for me and my Mini! The Cigar event at the meet in May looks very tempting too...Minis, Harleys and Ciagars. Not a bad life! I did see the Orange Mini and signed up. What kind do you have???

Welcome to NAM, you definitely made the right choice with the MINI. We have both and I can't wait to dump the Stang. Sure, it's fast off the line and all, but the fit and finish is just so...well, cheap. Sure, everything's plastic these days...but Ford tends to go the the edge and often falls over. That and the MINI is much more fun to drive

The really odd thing that I found between the two is that the MINI can be more utilitarian than the Mustang (the hard tops, anyway...can't speak for the verts). I can carry a bulkier load, more comfortably - and, if the whole family is going for a ride, I can actually fit a passenger in the front seat with a rear facing infant seat behind it (not possible in our Mustang - the seat is mashed all the way forward against the bolster).

Is that a loaded question?

I believe this photo was taken in Eastern Tennessee on the way to the dragon.

On the Way to the Dragon...

My my! What large mountains you have there... I like the subtle approach. Mine is a tad more blingy with the checker factor and all. Still a schweet ride. I sure hope though that you are a lot happier on the way home!!!
