R52 ?Maximum mph winds in tropical storm for RT?

Help...Does anyone know what the top wind speeds are before the MINI Ragtops fly Off?????
I live in south florida & we're expecting winds from 45-65 mph. Hopefully not more. I don't have a garage to put him in.
Working on it.
Will my RagTop be destroyed???
I'd appreciate it if anyone knows.
Thanks.

I'm a bit north of you, good luck! Past (non-mini) cabrios I've had in the past have done alright in tropical storms, but debris that the winds kick up might be a problem. Try to park in as sheltered a spot as you can to prevent flying stuff from impacting the roof. Good luck tonight, it's our turn in the morning.
You'll be able to handle the winds just fine, I made a 100 mile trip throguh Wilma last year, 70 forward and a good steady corss wind, but that was in a hardtop.
If you can't get into a garage try and find a sturdy Concrete building of a larger size and see if you can parking the middle of the downwind side, to protect you from wind a debris.

I'm with rkw on this one. With a hurricane or ts, you can always tell which direction the wind will be moving, counterclockwise around the eye. Just park facing the wind, and when the eye passes over you, turn the car around the other way
I wouldn't really worry too much about Ernesto - it looks like it will just be really annoying, as opposed to real wind damage. A cat 2,3,4 or 5, and I'd then start to worry about the MINI (among other things).

Good luck fellow floridians....I feel bad for you all who dont have a garage to hide your mini in.
I hope everyones mini makes it out ok!
the storm will be hitting here i believe tomorrow night.
EVIL Ernesto!!!! GRRR!!!!!!!!

Edit: I wouldnt worry too much, its just gonna be like a windy thunderstorm with lots of rain. Your mini should be ok as long as no tree limbs fall on it or something like that.

I just hope it does not effect the MTTS train when we get to DC, They have it off the coast of Virgina on FRI. :(

Motoron, what MINI has a top speed of 150? The GP, not any JCW 210 which is 142 and MCS, I think, at 135.

He found the key to get around the rev limiter kicking in early was dropping to 5th, that plus he carried waaay more HP with the TC, but the car held the speed just fine.
