Noise from rear seat area

My cabrio makes a rubbing rattling sort of noise from the rear seat area. It's coming from within the outside walls. Sounds like plastic on plastic. Top up/down doesn't matter. Anyone had this problem?

Rattle

I have a 2005 Cool Blue Cabrio with the same problem. My sound comes from the back seat by the drivers side. It is a plastic rattle. I took it in for service and they spent 3 hours trying to find it. I came out to see what was going on and the service tech. was pounding on the area with his fist. Very professional. I knew we had a problem. They told me to bring it back and leave it for awhile to see if they could locate the cause.

Actually the sound started after the recall fix was done on the top. How about yours? I will leave it with them for a few days and see what happens. It is not a loud noise, but it is bothersome.

Fasten your rear seat belts and pull tight. That solved a rattle problem I had.

I had the same rattle from my seat belts. I now keep them fastened, even when no one is in the car.

Same.

I keep all my belts buckled. Still get the noise.

It's definitely coming from inside the rear side walls.

I doubt if this is helpful, but back in '03 I thought I had a similar rattle but it turned out to be a seat latch. How did I find out? I put the seat down and it was gone. Ultimately the latch was replaced under warranty. My only point here is to really try to do some careful experimentation...you may narrow it down better than the service tech.

The only rattle I have in my '06 Cabrio is the back windows, and only if the top is down, and the windows up.

Strap...

Mine still rattled when the seatbelts were fastened too... so for the back seat I tucked the seatbelts, unfastened, into the sides between the seatbacks and the plastic side-wall. This got rid of SOME of the noise, then I figured out it was the passenger's seatbelt rattling in the wind so now I pull that one over the passenger seat's side-bolster. No more noise! I think it looks goofy to ride around with the seatbelts fastened. No offense to anyone who does, I just prefer not to see that in my own car.

my rattle

I had a similar rattle in my '05 cabrio. I had thought it was coming from somewhere in the back seat. I noticed it only happened when the passenger seat was empty though. I finally traced it down to the passenger headrest. See if that is your problem.

rear window rattle

My 06 MCC has a rattle that comes from the drivers side rear window when driving with the top up. Originally I thought the noise was from the rear seats, but I was able to confirm it when my wife drove and I sat in the back and found that when I hold the rear window the rattle stops. I want to get it fixed, but I am afraid the dealer won't have a clue as to what to do and might make things worse. Has anyone else had the same problem and had it repaired?
