Over the weekend I discovered a nice present in my rear seat - a burn hole in my leatherette!!!

Some stupid smoker (probably in an SUV) decided it was too gross to use their ashtray so they threw their butt out the window. Bounced into my car, I guess. GRRRRR!

This happened in my last convertible too. It seems there's some kind of wind thing that pulls in cigarette butts.

Any ideas on how to repair the seat?

Just wanted to say that I feel for you, that sucks. I find that I am frequently behind drivers smoking in all sorts of vehicles, men and woman, flicking stuff out the window (often some bits of garbage along with ash, yuck) and usually the driving is worse off too. Nasty dangerous situation as the hole in your seat shows :(

 

Seems a lot of smokers don't like the mess of their own habit, and prefer to expel it and "share" it with others, invited or not. Can't stand it. Sucks about the car seat. Call some upholstery shops. I'm sure you're not the first to have this happen.

As a smoker, I apologize for all the sloppy smokers. I NEVER smoke in my MINI (or in our house), and when in public always try to step AWAY from other people, especially kids.
I'm sorry that other smokers are not considerate.

 

That would be like any other driver apoligizing for the crazies who drink and drive or put others at risk with how they drive.

If you're a considerate smoker, have fun puffing away! But by appearences, you are in the minority.... Sad but true.
