I've been driving with the M7 USS for a week now, and it makes a considerable difference in handling.
MINI added some support braces towards the rear of the convertible to stiffen the chassis, but left it wanting more by softening the suspension. The USS takes the support bracing idea further by stiffening the middle and front of the chassis as well. Going over bumps and rough roads, there is significantly less rattle, and the car feels less "jumpy" (ie. when the wheels want to go anywhere except where you pointed them) when you go over bumps, especially while turning. Through hard turns, I used to feel the chassis twist as it struggled to maintain a line through the corner, which usually resulted in understeering. The USS makes the car handle flatter and more neutral, carving through turns like the MINI ought to. IMHO, the USS makes my MCSc handle better than hardtop MINIs without aftermarket suspension upgrades.
The USS is certainly a worthwhile performance upgrade, but also a safety add-on for any convertible owners who enjoy some spirited driving - I know firsthand how easily the MCSc can change trajectory through a turn, and the USS can prevent an accident and thereby act as a cheap form of insurance.
