My Wife wants a non-Convertible Hot Orange!

My wife's been bitten by the MINI bug.. I guess being a passenger in mine isn't good enough anymore, she really wants her own.. but it "has" to be hot orange and she doesn't want a convertible..

We thought about buying one and then getting it repainted, but to me, that doesn't seem like a very good idea for lots of reasons...

You could always wait and see if she changes her mind about the color...I did about 5 times before I finally decided on HB.

Funky color car, $25k

Happy wife, priceless!

Matt

ps, that's how we ended up with a Honda Civic Si (99) and a 2001 MDX. Wife got that look, and it was all over but the payments!

If I were going to repaint, it would be something completely custom - think of all the colors out there.

Seems like a really bad, not to mention costly, proposition though.

Believe it or not, I know a LOT of folks of this exact persuasion!!! Repainting may be the only answer....a slightly different, brighter orange would look better with, say, white mirrors/roof, imo. People seem to be a lot more willing/able to respray their MINIs in the UK (if the mags are any indication) than we are in the US, but even some NAM "artists" have done it. I think we'll see more of this as the years go on.

You might as well head on down to the Mini dealer and get your order in. All us married guys know the only right answer is "Yes Dear."

I would try to find out if you can have a special order on the paint. We bought an E46 330ci to my Mom and ordered in Estoril blue, which was not in the catalogs, it cost more but was available through BMW. Just call Mini USA or your dealer to find-out, better than repainting the whole car .

Mini, so far, has said that they will not do custom paint due to the constraints of the very busy production facility.

Perhaps your best bet will be an 06 in Solar Red, which is a metallic red supposedly with an orange highlight.

This photo was posted elsewhere on NAM, but its hard to say exactly what the color will really look like in person (metallics are typically very hard to capture accurately as they change with the light so much). Maybe it will have a nice strong orange 'flip' for her. Good luck

I would say why not if your wife wanted a Hot Orange Mini. You only live once and always paper your self because you will never know what will happen next. Live life fully and enjoy every moment as best you can.
P.S. I think Hot Orange looks cool

"Hi, I'm Earl Scheib, and I can paint any car any color for only $99.95!"

Scary thought!
