Start Inhibitor Switch Bad?
Wife's car intermittently will not start. Every time issue occurs we turn key, everything lights up but no crank. Battery is new. Last time it happened, I turned the key to on position, shifted through every gear and it started up when I turned ignition immediately after. I had this happen before in a different car and it was due to a bad neutral safety switch. I know these cars are notorious for bad ignition switches. Wondering if one of the 2 could be the culprit?
It's a CVT trans. Does anybody know how to test this inhibitor switch?
I am going to search here on how to test ignition switch and starter. Hopefully find some answers so I can get her up and running this weekend.

I had the same issue with my r52.
it was the starter selenoide but I replace the whole thing new from Napa.
you should test it by reading the voltage from the selenoide and cranking the engine, if you see voltage above 12 volts and nothing happens replace it with a new one.
I would suggest you to take the old one a compared with the new to be an exact match including the starter casings.
to test the safety switch I cut the wires and bridged then together but mines it didn’t have a cruise control and if you have cruise control don’t do it, it would disabled the cruise control if you bridged the safety switch.
i put back the safety switch as original designed since I later learn it was the starter and no the safety switch.
napa would give you a lifetime guarantee.
good luck
