HID Headlight question

I have an '06 R52 with HID headlights. They are not very bright. Based on how the wiring looks I think a previous owner converted them to HID. My question is this...is there really a difference in HID bulbs? I see prices from $10 to over $100 for one bulb. Could that be my problem? Could I just have cheap bulbs?

I purchased a pair of the stock xenon bulbs for my '04 R53 from eBay a year ago..... I just paid under $25 for them.

My lights were a different color was the reason I changed them out.

I assume you were referring to the Xenon bulbs and not the regular "halogen" style bulbs

I have Xenon bulbs but there are so many out there I am asking if the $100 bulb is really better than the $25 bulb.

I would say no, the less expensive bulbs work great in my car

I went back through my ebay purchases, the link below is what I bought for my '04 R53.......I'm not sure if my '06 R52 takes the same bulb or not......

What I did was take the OEM part number off one of the bulbs that were in my car and did an ebay search with that number, and the link below is what came up....my bulbs have been there for over 2 years now, still working great

Your results may vary

Thanks for the info. What color did you get? Also, I'm wondering if my lights are aimed correctly. My headlights have 2 adjustment points. I have figured out the one that moves them vertically so I figured the other one must be the horizontal adjustment but when I turn it I don't see any change.

I just got the OEM white ones for my '04 car.....I think my '06 car takes a different bulb....

You should take one of yours out and see if there is a number on it for a search so you get the correct bulb

I am unsure about the adjustment screws...both of my cars seem to be aimed correctly

All I know is that my '16 Kia Forte5 with HID is significantly brighter than my Mini HIDs. Both have projector headlamps. And my Mini does not have that distinct beam cutoff like you typically see with projector lamps.
