I'm in the process of restoring an abused Mini that had hood work done. In the process they failed to reinstall the the black hood striped that were supposedly installed by the factory based on the VIN. The option code is 329 Black Bonnet Stripes.
Should I install them and leave it alone? Also, can I get by with the non-S stripes for $15 instead of the expensive S stipes at $90? I don't know the difference.
Next question is, if I'm going to install them, should I go with white instead of black?
Here's my car:

Hard to say. They both have their virtues. Only suggestions I'd make are to seek out laminated stripes. I replaced twice before getting those. Close to 30K miles now without a scratch. Also, don't let go of those web spoke wheels at a bargain price. They're going new for around 12 to 15 hundred a set last I looked.
Thanks for all the supportive comments. I'm going to leave the striping alone until Spring.
As for the R98's, I started refinishing them tonight. I definitely don't intend to give them away. I really like them, but the car handles too rough with them.
Here's my progress on the first wheel:
