I see some cabrios have chrome hinges and rear tailgate body part, was this an option?

There was a Chrome Line Exterior option that included chrome mirror caps and other chrome trim pieces (specific pieces depending on S or non-S). For cabrios, this option included chrome hinge covers. Separately, there was also a Chrome Line Interior option.

I was trying to see if I had an example of the packages...but nope, I don't. I also remember the Trunk lid grip with key button in chrome.

Many/most gen1 cars were custom ordered till late 2005 (with the exception of EARLY LAUNCH CARS) with folks waiting MONTHS for delivery...
Mine was ordered june/July 2004, delivered as a 2005 Christmas eve about 6 months later...
More basic dealer speced cars started showing up around 2006 as volume picked up, and demand slacked off...heck most dealers went YEARS never having more than two demo cars on the lot new, and a couple trade-in cars....so finding two gen1 cars speced out the same is kinda rare ..lots of variety.... Both from the factory, and with aftermarket add-ons....

+1 Chrome line exterior was an option. Stock Cooper S Convertible had painted body color ones. Some people just get the chrome pieces and swamp them in.

I have a R52 with chrome all around
