Need help adjusting top

Hello all fellow members,

I've reading this forum for a while now, very good info from everyone.

I am having a problem and I hope someone can help me out. For about two weeks I am having a problem with my convertible top on my 06' cooper s. The top seems to work perfectly, but once closed, and I speed up to 60mph air comes in on the drivers side, and there is a whistling noise, where the top closes with the windscreen :(

I noticed that the top, once closed, has a slighter bigger "gap" on the drivers side than on the passengers side. I read that there is a way to adjust the top once closed so that it aligns perfect on the windscreen seal, but I cannot figure out exactly how... I tried searching but with no luck.

Please, anyone information is greatly appreciated.

Had the same problem after having the windscreen replaced. I thought it was coming from the top at first too. There was a bit of gasket at the top of the glass which had not gotten secured tightly. The glass shop ran a bead of silicone sealant under it all away across the top - problem solved. That would be the first place to check with the easiest solution. If it is the gasket where the top meets the header then that would just need to be re-positioned with a fresh bead of sealant.

A local mechanic that I am taking it to said that the top can be adjusted to close that gap up a little. The dealership I bought the Mini from said the rubber trim needs to be replaced because it has shrunk over the years. Which scenario seems more plausible to you? Replacing the trim would be way more expensive than just adjusting the top, so I'm hoping that's not the case.

You might want to look into purchasing a Bently manual that should give you all the how too's on fixing your top and anything else on your mini.

Bently manual is a mini repair manual that cost 60 to 80 dollars and is a must when working on or repairing your mini.

Top needs adjustment, the top can be adjusted by removing the sunroof portion motor and pushing the one side forward a couple mm ( couple teeth on the cable ), then put the motor in and cycle the top up and down. The sensors will know when and top is set. This happens allot after people replace both sunroof cables.

Bentley manual are here: Good to have regardless of any repair.

Free ship.
