My MINI is back...

The long wait is finally over!!!!! And I do mean long wait. I p/u my Mini today and all I can say is "the wait was worth it".

After 7 long months, yes you read that right 7, my Mini is parked in my garage. The guy who was woking on it does some excellent work, however, his work ethic leaves a lot to be desire.

I'll start off with with some teaser shots and see what you guys think. I'll be at AMVIV this year for anyone that would like to check it out up close and personal.

I will add some more details later on.

SEVEN months ? That MINI should have come out looking like a Ferrari.

And hey, Ev, how about teasing us some more ?

Nah, better than a Ferrari. I wouldn't trade my Mini for a Ferrari, beside, no way I could afford the insurance on it.

Yes, there were times where I just wanted to go to his shop and pull the mini out of there and just take it to someone else. But he did come highly recommended.

Here are a few more shots.
This one is infront of his shop

Safely back home. Notice anything?

It has such a sexy rear end.....

He shot so much clear coat over the graphics...well you can see the reflection on the door of the extension cord along with other stuff.

Ofcourse, the Mini wings had to be included in the graphics.

The scoops were custom built...and yes, they are functional.

That's truly a one-of-a-kind MINI, Ev.

Loving the body kit ! I'm normally not a fan of the wide fender flares on a MINI but with those bumper kits, it works well !

Love the side graphics, too.

I like it a lot, but to be honest, I am not in love with the rather plain looking side marking lights on the fenders. In other words.... To me those fenders don't look right without the grilles.

But other than that, it is a show stopper!!

LOL!!! You got it! That's why I removed the grills as well. I wanted the smooth look all the way. The removal of the grills was pretty tricky. Specially since there are some inner workings back there that you need to have access to, so after an exhaustive search and a few sleepless nights and some nightmares...the solution came to me and I love how they turned out...

Here is a pic of the other project I was working on that was completed a week before mine. You will see us both at AMVIV.

Where did you get the fin for your antenna? I have been looking for a shark fin but can't seem to find one.

Thanks ClubmanS,

Some times is not so much whether you like the car or not but is the appreciation of the work that was involved.

Yes the red Mini is pure "orgasmic" as you so elequently put it. As soon as I pulled the Mini out of the shop and got the wheels mounted, people could not stop looking. It is definitely a chick magnet (or guy magnet in this case as it belongs to a great gal).

It's a stubby antena (on the red mini). It just looks like a shark fin. But I've been looking into shark fins for a while and I think I'm going to settle on the BMW one. Just need to find out how it will mount and if it will fit.

Okay, so if the doorhandles are gone, how do you get into the car?

Poppers... electronics. Would be my guess

I am diggin the little spoiler on the back too. Let me know how functional it is about deflecting that tendency for dirt to climb up and stick back there.

That's right. I'm using a solenoid that attaches to the mechanism (via steel wire) where the door handle would attach on the latch. When the solenoid gets activated, it releases the latching mechanism just as the door handle would. I'm wiring it into my existing key FOB harness so I can use my OEM Mini key to open the doors. Yes, it is always easier said than done... Simple idea, difficult execution!!!

The spoiler does help, indeed. Denise, the owner of the red Mini took it into a semi-paved road during a storm. When I met up with her that day, the back of her mini was as filthy as a "free range" pig but the rear window was actually somewhat clean void of all the dirt and grime. Ofcourse it wasn't 100% clean but the difference was noticeable.

Would be really neat and tidy if you could program it to pop the drivers door on the first unlock hit and the passengers side on the second one. Or something along those lines. Or perhaps you could incorporate the drivers door unlock into the trunk unlock? Since the trunk does not open on that impulse it could be shared to pop the doors. Does sound complicated though doesn't it? I assume your now using its own separate remote for now?

Where can one obtain one of those spoilers Brown?

Nice to hear from you Rich,

Yeah, I've missed a lot of club drives and what have you. But I'll be going to as much as I can this year. Just to make up for it...

Here is one before I had the body and paint mods done. I need to update my gallery with the new pics.

cphilip, now your talking like a true hard core customizer... That's exactly what I've been working on. I'm using my OEM key fob to control the driver's side right now. I still have not hooked up the passanger but that's exactly what I been researching. I have all the wiring schematics for the Mini so it's just a matter of finding the right wire. One push will open the driver's, two will open the passanger's side. That's what I'm talking about....

The red Mini has the last spoiler produced! I had a little accident pulling the spoiler out of the mold and ended up braking the mold. The spoile was fine but the mold gave out. I have a guy that says he can fix it but he's too busy right now with other projects. Maybe in the next few months.

Let me know if you do get the mold fixed. I would be interested I think. However our distance is a problem since you live on the "wrong coast".

I have almost an identical Chili Red MCSc to that one to start with.
