R52 Egg on fabric question...
Egg on fabric question...
Hey Guys/Gals.....
Unfortunately, I have to report that my mini was egged last night and of course it went all over the top and down in the fabric. I wiped it off the paint and tried to wipe it off the top as well(in a downpour), but it didn't help much. Anyone have any ideas on how to get egg out of the fabric??
I'd love to find these jerks and yank a knot in their tails...but I'm sure Karma will get them eventually.
See ya'll at the Dragon in May!!!
Thanks!

Who would egg a MINI??? That's just awful! Although, some douche bag(s) did put pebbles in my valve caps relieving the tires of air once
.
Anyway, you might try Simple Green. That stuff works on EVERYTHING. I would just try it out on an inconspicuous area first.
If that doesn't work, check with your MA. Maybe he/she can help you find something more specific for that purpose, or maybe they have a product at the dealer you can use.
Hope that helps!

Egg is protein and really the only thing that would help is soaking in cold water and using a soft bristle brush. You could also try using a mild clothes detergent such as tide. Hope this helps!

Contact your auto insurance company and see if cleaning it may be covered by your comprehensive. Make sure you file a police report.
Do that before you mess with it yourself and cause damage.
Good luck

Turtlewax makes a spray foam interior cleaner. You spray the foam on the area, use the attached brush to work loose the stain, then just wipe or vacuum it off. I have yet to run into a substance that it can't get out of car upholstry.
Personally, I would only use a cleaner specifically made for fabric convertible tops.
But WHATEVER you decide to use, it's most important to reapply a quality exterior fabric protector like 303, Ragtopp, etc. when it's clean and dry. The cleaning process will remove whatever protectant you have on there. For convertible tops, UV protection (and to a lesser extent, water and stain repellancy) are very important to top longevity...

Although if I was handling this claim, i woud not require a police report. It's a simple Comp Claim, because it's considered vandalism. And, I mean... geez, who is going to egg their own car ? I don't need no stinkin' police report for that claim.
Yeah, if you have a low deductible for Comp like I've been preaching OVER AND OVER on this board for two years, file the claim and let a pro take care of the damages for you.
And for the newbs, so they don't think I'm talking between my two lower cheeks, I'm a Claim Rep for State Farm Insurance.
Good advice.

my mini was egged on mischief night in october. found it the next morning frozen to the car and the top. took some really hot water and just poured it over the spots. took it right off no stains left either
Good advice.

And by the way CR&PW&JB is a genius, even though he's too modest to admit.
Thanks everyone!!! I think I have been able to get the stains out with just normal cold water from the hose. Once we have some decent weather the 303 will be applied.
Thanks again for all the advice!!!
