Difference between convertible oem mats and hardtop ones?

As the title says, just wondering what's the difference between the convertible oem carpet mats and the hardtop ones. I'm looking to get a set as a present for my little brother's '05 convertible, but they are pretty expensive from the dealer, as opposed to a good set of oem hardtop used ones from "the bay".

Thanks

The convertible mats in the rear seat area are smaller

I got a set of the OEM rubber mats for my 07 cabrio, just the fronts. They were about $50 from the dealer, should have checked with morristownmini.com and ordered them tere, they seem to have lower prices than most other dealers. No I don't work for morristown mini, just a heads up if you need parts, got a rear wind deflector for under $300, well over $400 at most dealers. No one sits in the back.

I haven't opened my rear mats yet but you are right that it says it is for the convertible. I got the rear mats at the dealership for ~$30.

I've got a set of the OEM mats from my 05 convertible in great shape I've been meaning to list for sale... I bought custom cocoa mats... If interested I could take some pics...

This could have been in the "Things you didn't know about your MINI" thread...

I can't for the life of me figure out why the rear Cabrio mats would need to be a different size. Surely there isn't less foot room, is there?

(...and sorry for calling you "Shirley" )

Shirley, there certainly IS less rear seat legroom in the cabrio than in the coupe.

The back seat in the cabrio is shifted forward a couple of inches to allow enough room for the cabrio top to fold behind it. This results in a slightly deeper boot from the back of the back seats to the hatch - but in less back seat legroom.

..and though it doesn't effect the mats... the rear seat is a good bit narrower too I believe. Due to the folded top.

When I got the cocoa mats, they did have a pattern for the rear convert... but they were too thick and I could not move the front seat all the way back. I returned the rears and they modified them for me to not have the 'lobes' on the sides... It's always soemthing. :-)

I tried to squeeze the backseat OEM rubber mats from my 03 coupe into my Cabrio. It just didn't work. The Cabrio's are smaller. And now that I have the Clubman, they are a different size in the back also

Yeah, the original Coco mats I got were cut to the wrong template, also. I sent them a tracing of my OEM rear mats, and they made a set that matches in size. Perfect. They SHOULD have made that the new "standard" template for cabrios... but I don't think they did...
