How to get to trunk cig lighter?

Hey guys

I'm trying to get to the rear cig lighter in my cabrio.

Problem is that I cant just pull it out, it has some 90 degree bend right behind whats hidden in the trim.

Now... how do i get open this trim piece?

I tried taking out the push rivets but it doesnt seem to be working. Any input from anyone?

I'm trying to use the cig lighter as the remote wire for my amp as it seems to be the closest and easiest. ( tell me if i'm wrong here)

Help would be awsome!

Oh no... I cant change the title anymore.. lol

by trunk i mean boot!

Grrr.. back at cha!

I think its just a hard pull to get the trim off. I remember trying to find the cd changer cables on the passenger side once and it was a tough pull to get in behind there.

Yep - firm pull will remove the trim, IIRC.

That said, if you pry enough on the lighter recepticle, it WILL pop out. Have done mine several times without removing the other trim.

Anybody want to comment on whether the power supply to that lighter is an adequate wire to power an amp with? I wouldn't think so.

Ahhh.... I missed what the intended purpose was... nah, I would tie to the battery directly with a new fused circuit for an amp...

I read that he's trying to use the Cig lighter as a remote not as power. This is fine as long as the Cig lighter shuts off when power goes off as it does in the front of the car.

ok guys

I finally accomplished this... I was able to jerk off the back trim.. but i broke one of the yellow clips in the end.

Yes, i am only using this as a remote line.. not a power (why would i?)

It works perfectly
