Funky cabrio sunburn!!!

So since I got my MINI, wasn't thinking and put the top down A LOT on Sunday since it was soooooo nice. Wore a low cut top --- now I have a nice burn, except I have this wonderfully hip, slanted white stripe right through the burn where my seatbelt went. HA! Joke's on me, I guess. I'll be wearing shirts up around my neck for a while . . . .

I don't own a great many low-cut tops.

They would draw too much attention to my chest hair.

My cheeks and forehead are perpetually rosy these days though due to lovely spring top down days. Sunblock and hats, Sunblock and hats.

My UJ do-rag is my best friend... saves my scalp from sunburn... doesn't blow off...

... and I don't wear low-cut blouses or bikini tops while driving...

I've moved this thread to the Cabrio Forum

I've noticed I've had a bit of a glow the last week or so
But that's what happens when one goes topless

Earlier this spring on one of the nicer days, we were driving south during an afternoon for about two hours with the top down -- the sun was constantly on our right. My bf in the passenger seat got burned, but, like you, ONLY on the right side of his face, neck, and ear.

He wanted me to drive us North with the sun out the next day so he could even out his burn!

My wife just said you need to remember the sunscreen. Of course, this was after she finished laughing because she had a similar experience.

A couple of years ago we went to my nephew's wedding in Hot Springs, about 6 hrs away. During the drive,we had the top down and were really enjoying the weather. My wife was wearing a sleeveless top and had her hair pulled back. When we got to our hotel my wife looked in the mirror and freaked. Her right shoulder had burned, and she had stripes along her neck and shoulder from the seatbelt and her shirt. This was made worse since she had a sleeveless dress for the wedding. It's a good thing she had long hair so we were able to hide the stripes in the wedding pictures.

That's EXACTLY what mine looked like!!!! YAY I have a sash twin! Mine peeled two days ago and is almost gone. Should we all sport this look and make it trendy??? Almost need a new smiley for that one.

I have gotten the same striped sunburn from riding with the top down. I now make sure to put on plenty of sun screen.

Natural light is dangerous, I always use hats, sunscreen, long sleeves and pants in summer. I blocked the sunroof with cardboard. It helps not having a Cabrio.

Take a page from Tuvok's wisdom:

"Ah, the sun feels great," expressed Tom as they emerged into the sunlight.
"Thermal and Ultraviolet radiation are at hazardous levels," noted Tuvok as he consulted his tricorder.
"Lighten up, will you Tuvok? This was a great time and place, and you are geting to see it first hand. Come on, take off your shirt."
"And risk dermal dysplasia? No thank you."
"Volcans, deep down you're all a bunch of hyopchondriacs."

I love Star Trek

Have you considered spray painting it with some Krylon number 12 black paint instead of using a cardboard box?
Or lining the top with some good quality speed tape....

Cardboard works, and I used some brown paper between it and the glass, so you cannot see the QVC Ladder box I used.
