R52 The Official Sidewalk Owners Club
A question...or two....
My Bride and I were cruising yesterday, and stopped by our selling Dealership. The Dealer had two Sidewalks on the lot. We spoke briefly with a couple who were "shopping" for a MINI. The man asked what the nameplate (Sidewalk) meant. I told him that was were you parked this car, after a "big night out"!
Anyway....seeing the other sidewalks there, and watching all of you register here makes me wonder.....how many Sidewalks did MINI make and send to the U.S. Market? And, is there a way to see how they "break down", as in how many of what color, and how many with which options?

In Mexico, apparently the Sidewalk is new for this year. In my city (Monterrey, second largest in Mexico) there are only two, mine and a Pepper White. I will try to check with the dealer in Mexico City and will post at least the Mexican Numbers.

It WOULD be interesting to find out if MINI provides production statistics. Does anyone know where those might be available?
BTW - Just got my Sidewalk Club T-shirt ... TOTALLY AWESOME! I'll be sporting it this weekend at the local East-Meets-West 2009 fundraiser picnic.

Can I Join Up?
This is actually my second MCC - the first got traded in for the child seat until my daughter said, "Daddy, I liked your old car." Was going to get the BRG w/Sidewalk, but the sparkling silver looked good at the dealership. HATE the run flat tires though - anybody else? Changing them tomorrow morning. If anybody needs some 195/55 Dunlop run flats w/11,000 miles on them, gimme a hollar.
1) Finally got out the camera
2) If it had a name, it would have come to me on the lot
3) MD - moving to NYC!
4) Sparkling Silver
5) Cooper (non S)
6) 30's for a bit more
7) keep meaning to apply but I'm busy procrastinating
8) "When the World Is Running Down, You Make the Best of What's Still Around" by The Police
9) CravenSpeed short shifter, DDM Works air intake, SFS Performance silicone radiator hoses, Screamin' Deamon ignition coil, Kingsborne 8.5 mm plug wires, Denso Iridium plugs, OutMotoring gauge faces.

Ok, sshayak ...by my count, you win for most mods (so far) What are the benefits of each mod? (be specific) Do you race?
Other modders chime in (oxtx - IanF)- PLEASE! I am very happy with the zip I'm getting. What else should I want?

The benefits of each mod... Mostly placebo effect - the silicone radiator hoses I justified by winter travel on salted roads (but really just wanted them to match the ignition wires): the ignition wires and Denso plugs had to be done with the ignition coil (or it would just be a waste of a good spark): the ignition coil is all about efficiency (while I stomp on the accelerator like it's on fire): the short shifter is so I don't get tennis elbow in stop-and-go traffic (not because it looks meaner sitting low): the intake is the most notable "efficiency" item (because it tells me when I am pounding on the gas with a nice growl - as a warning): and, because it would be unsafe to think that a warning light were illuminated when it wasn't, I needed the OutMotoring gauge faces which only show an idiot light when lit. The biggest reason for all these is so I am in good spirits when driving 500 miles to pick up my daughter, instead of having my blood pressure through the roof because "mom" lives in the boon docks, but couldn't possible help with my visits. TMI?
So, the intake is a good thing...(perhaps?)
We will be doing a fair amount of road trips (Twin Cities-to-Denver & Twin Cities-to-Tennessee) and improved mileage is a good thing. Keep posting after your trip.

Our production week is supposed to be #23, the week of June 2. So, there's an outide chance that we'd have the car in mid-July, but I'm just counting on the beginning of August... hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised!
I'm staying busy with little things... like ordering personalized plates for the car... now I just have to see if others understand it!
