Tweaking 05 mini vert

Big D
Hi there: This is my first posting. My wife and I bought an 05 Mini conv cool blue last year and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. In spite of my 6' 5" 235 lbs stature.
She is only 5'6".
We are very excited to be coming to the MOTD this year. All the info I've read makes it sound fantastic. Can't wait for all the drives and the great scenery.
Question: Any ideas on tweaking the performance a little and still having the car look completely stock. Every now and then, depending on how hard I accelerate, I get this surge of unusual power for a couple of seconds, then it drops off. Any ideas? I was wondering if I had someone hook up a dyno to it and tweaked it some if I might notice quite a difference. Anyone ever tried that?
Thanks

I assume you have a base cooper . . . or is it an "S" cooper?

Without knowing what you've got in detail... I'd say go for better tires first, then lighter wheels. And you know what they say about tightening the loose nut behind the wheel being the best upgrade too right?

To me, MINIs are foremost about handling. And the Dragon is definately about handling.

I just put a new set of Michelin Pilots on the car that I love!!!! Again-I want to stay as stock looking as possible but I'd love to get more performance.
Thanks again

^ +1. Lighter wheels always help . . . I assume you don't want to give up your tires until worn (if you had fun-flats, I'd say lose them ASAP).
Cabrios benefit from the M7 under strut support..

I don't know much about the MCc specifically, but you may want to check out the Modifications - cooper (non-S) forum for specific info.
Here's a current thread on there:

In my experience the MCC/CVT really comes alive between 3k and 5.5k rpm, especially in sport or manual mode. These cars are much zippier than most people give them credit for.
