So... we've been searching the internet for the past couple weeks, looking for the long-lost brother to The Twins. His description:

MCS Convertible.
Known to be either Hot Orange, Liquid Yellow, or Purple Haze.
Automatic Tranny.
Nicely equipped but lots of room for mods (that's half the fun!)

We may have found him in.... well, how far can you get from Maryland and still be in the continental US ? ... San Diego.


Anyway, Are we crazy for considering flying across the country and driving all the way back to the East Coast ? Me... I'm up for a nice, liesurely, trip in our new baby. The fiance, she's leaning toward it being crazy. :impatient

Looking at the pic, it looks like a pretty close cousin to mine (except I've got the aero kit). But I wasn't as potentially "crazy" as you when I found my car. I found mine at the CarMax in Miami, and had it shipped in to Austin, TX. I couldn't burn that many days of work to go for a leisurely drive across the south. I did tink about it, tho. Great find!

 

Yeah, she's a BEAUT !! Only 9,000 miles on her and she's an '05.

Might have to look into the cost of shipment... might make more sense.

Oh for sure, fly out and drive it home. We drove our first MINI home from Pittsburgh to Fort Worth the weekend before Thanksgiving in 02. It was a great trip. Fantastic way to get to know the new car.

 

For those of you who are still thinking it's a crazy idea...

 

Which dealership is that? We could always go visit it for you this weekend, ya know. We (SDMike and I), and our West Coast MINI club brethen, are known to just go visit MINIs for no apparent reason. It's a sickness.

Thanks for the offer. If that's not too far out of your way, I'd appreciate a first-hand report. I can't imagine it would have much wear and tear with less than 10K miles on the odometer. But always nice to know before we were to make the trip out there.

BUT... we could sure use a Hot Orange in our club.

I bought my MINI from D&R in Indianapolis and road-tripped home with my brother. Wouldn't have done it any other way!

 

They could be WCMmers on the other coast... we can "badge" thier new MINI for them too

CR/PW Tiggy and I will gladly stop by and take a look... it's actually very close to our home.

 

We can make them Honorary members of West Coast MINI!

 

Yesh! That's within about 3 miles of our house, and right across from MCAS Miramar. No problem at all. I'll charge up our camera tonight and take pics from all angles.

I hope Sunday evening is soon enough. We've got a packed day tomorrow.

Not any crazier than we are - Picking up an 05 MCSca in Ft. Myers Florida and driving it to our home in Everett WA - in August. That is 90 miles from Cuba to 90 miles from Canada - over 4000 miles.
