What changes would you like to see to the cabrio in 2009?

Someone started this thread in the 2007 coupe category and I thought it would be a great thread for those of us with cabrios as we have our own wish lists.

MINI will be coming out with the R57 cabrio in 2009, based on the R56. But I am hoping they will make some special modifications for the R57 to make the top down motoring experience even more enjoyable.

So let me start the wish list with this:

AIR CONDITIONED SEATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoo hoo! Wouldn't THAT be awesome!

I'm simple...

One in my garage would be first.

I'd love to have an "S" (although my insurance rates would probably go up considerably).

Drop the new turbo engine in the current body style and interior (although better seats are always welcome) -- and keep the burble like the Brits have.

I'd also like to see some more color options for the tops.
(Wouldn't a nice beige would look good with the British Racing Green!)

Hmmm. I wonder if it's possible to get stripes on a canvas top?

I would like to see side airbags for rear passengers. This is one of my pet peeves with the current Cabrio.... Rear passengers have no airbag protection whatsoever, other than the rear anti-roll bars. I would like to see 2-3 inches more shoulder room in the back seat area as well. Improve the quality of the cloth retractable roof as well. Another problem in the current Cabrio is that the rear glass shatters, you have to replace the entire roof assembly! They need to design the new roof to allow for replacement of the rear glass without having to yank out and replace the entire roof system.

No, I mean the convertible hard top. Like the SLK. But, I have to confess, I intentionally worded my post to elicit such a response.

No I mean program the ECU for burble like it is in the UK. I don't think they are improperly tuned over there. Thanks for trolling as usual though

I agree with the above posts re burble & colors.
How about letting us raise/lower the top at up to, say, 5mph.
Some light in the back seat would be nice.

Trolling? The burble is caused by less than ideal tuning.

oooh how bout offering a manual top version. While I love love love my electric top I can only imagine how many times it will need costly repair (It's already failed once & almost a second time) if I try to keep my MINI for a really long time

Hrmmm...let's see. This is challenging given that I'm having a passionate love affair with my '06 but ~

A boot light - it's like a cave in there
Jet Black - bring it baaaaack
One touch button that does it all - back windows, fronts, and then roof

I'm sure there's more...I'll contemplate it on my motoring adventure going home.

I swear I have a boot light. Now you have made me doubt myself so I will have to check when I get home but if you don't it must be burnt out

Our roof button does it all (but it could be better). When raising the top goes & then all 4 windows roll up if you hold the button. When lowering, the top goes down & then if you tap the button (twice I think) all the windows will lower themselves

I want less than ideal tuning then.
We already have a bimmer in the garage, yet my wife and I fight over the MINI.
I used to like the burble -- then I heard some of the old school Minis at the Dragon, and now I love it and wouldn't want my car without it.

There is a boot light - but it is WOEFULLY insufficient (one small item in the boot can block the light). Hence the fantabulous ImagoX "Light that Boot" mod that several of us have.

There are also a number of owner-performed back seat lighting solutions - but an OEM solution is definitely needed.

Speaking of the windows, right now you have to hold the button in order to raise all the windows. Wouldn't it be great you could raise all the windows up with a single push?
(Sort of like the Ian Cull Auto-Up circuit, but for cabrios.)
