Whistling windshield

I just got my second windshield (cracked in the same spot). Used a local established glass shop. I even went to the trouble of getting clips and A-pillar caps ($65 a piece!).

Now I have wind whistling above 30 mph! Haven't had it up to 75 mph yet, am expecting something like an F-15 taking off. The top moulding doesn't look flush enough, and the corner trim was a bit loose.

Has anyone else had this problem after getting a windshield replaced? I shoulda called the first company back, even though they're not listed in the phonebook (only phone solicitation I've ever been suckered into) because there was no noise. Will it require redoing the whole thing to get it right? Will they claim I slammed the door with the windows up and say too bad?

And am I the only one, when something gets fixed, something else gets screwed up?

Unless your auto-drop/ auto-close feature isn't working, I'd say that was not possible! Take it back; they'll fix it.

Not uncommon, if the tech who does your glass replacement is inexperienced with MINIs. (Or with whatever model of car you bring them) If trim is visibly misaligned after the job, any stand-up, reputable shop will fix the problem for you. Should not charge a dime.

And that should oughtta stop the whistlin'.

According to my glass guy(I've had 3 windsheild put in my '04) the top molding is a problem. If not put in just right it'll become loose. All kinds of noise. And yes the glass company should redo it for free. My guy even came out and met me in a Burger King parking lot to adjust it the last time.No charge.

From Factory

From the factory, I've had the same problem at higher speeds, no cracked windshield, nothing, stock. Nothing has been replaced. Is there any fix?

When you're driving, and the howling starts, push your hand against the upper center of the windshield, and you hear the howl change in pitch.

A very thin bead of clear silicone (use masking tape as a guide), trying to get it up under the outside molding. Then use an X-Acto knife to CAREFULLY trim the excess.

I had the shop work on it. I suspected the top corner pieces were the culprit, so they added some glue. No more whistling! Wish all problems could be fixed as easily.

Same problem here, '06 MCS. It will be on my list of little things to have the dealer address at first service, still only at 1900 miles.

Singing bonnet, humming boot, whining supercharger...

...but my windshield cannot whistle, and my steering wheel has pretty poor rhythm.

I know I should resist these urges, but it just isn't always possible. Many of my close associates have recommended therapy.
