I bought my MCS in Florida to bring back to CA. Went north Kentucky met some great people from the MINI group "MINIOKI". Met up with them in Somerset, KY. for a car show, Somernites. Then we jumped in the Cooper driving 2500 miles, only 300 of it on the Interstates!!!!! Followed Route 66 from St. Louis to Oatman, AZ.. Zipping around on frontage roads, farm roads, curvey roads........you get the me drift. Stopped at great BBQ joints and Cafes (no fast food joints). Chatting with people the entire way, explaining what this great looking car is and how it drives better than it looks. Through the Vegas strip lights into Death Valley where it was top down on a cool day at 85 degrees. It is great to be alive and motoring in a Mini.

2 quotes from the road; 1. Friends don't let friends drive the Interstate. 2. How many girls per pick up mile, does it get?

Oh yeah, we are here. TD. Took the car for a smog check and heard there was a Red one in town. I told the guy, yeah I know! Gearing up for the "Italian Job" movie premiere in LA. Been looking for ya as I drive around town! cj

cool pics! That is an awesome drive too! I just drove from Pahrump Nevada to Hesperia, CA without using the I-15 once! 300 miles of fast dessert roads and killer scenery...can't wait until I can do it again!

I just drove my MINI back from Louisian and caught I-40 in Texas. Tried to get onto Route 66 whenever possible, but there's not that much left. Did happen to get caught in a big Route 66 "parade" (several hundred old cars from just about everywhere that came to celebrate the Route) which was fun. Unfortunately, I did too much interstate and not enough 2-lane highway. Still, a great ride!

Good to hear other people takin' the long way home. We got a route 66 book with maps. Got lost several times, but found the orignal pink concrete every once and a while. The people turned out to be the best part of route 66.

Let's hear of some other great routes around this country!
