Sunroof Replacement?

Anyone replace their own sunroof? Mine shattered this morning on my way to work :impatient. I don't know if it was hit by a rock, car flex, or what. I wasn't going over any large bumps at the time and there was a pick-up ahead of me, about 5 seconds...I don't know what casued it . Anyhow, I ordered a new one and I'm going to put it in myself. I did a search and coundn't find anything like a "How-To" or any other experiances for a complete replacement. I should have it by the middle of next week so I have some time to figure it out. I'm just wondering if there is anything I should look out for . Thanks.

I hear it is difficult to get the whole thing aligned and to not rattle once it's back in. I recomend that a body shop do the work.

If mine broke I would replace it with a Webasto: http://www.webastoshowroom.com/14Min..._524_2004.html

I came across someone who had one of those recently, and it leaked all over the headliner was throughly stained. There is an OEM one; just have to order it from out of the country.

Alignment and leaking would be my big concerns, and looking up the shop manual and getting instruction from there might be a big help.

I can't do any worse than the "Professionals" who replaced my windshield . I'm going to give it a try .

I've found this: http://www.myglassclass.org/installs...20cooper_2.pdf It's a place to start.

I also found this if you have a convertable: http://www.autoglassmagazine.net/htd...MiniCooper.pdf

I just replaced it and if you can change a tire you can change the sunroof. There are only twelve Torx 20 screws that hold it in. Take out the screws, remove old sunroof and replace with new. It's that easy .

I washed it to check for leaks, all OK . I'm really glad that's over with .

It was just over $200 , and that was with the NAM discount from Classic. Shipping was also a killer, but at least I got it in one piece.
