Any problems I should know about?

I bought a 2003 MCS with 24k miles on it. It looks it tip top shape. Garaged, well taken care of and low miles. My question for everyone... I have an extended warranty that covers as close to bumper to bumper (just not cosmetics or brake pads and stuff in normal wear and tear) as possible that cost me $1950. With the warranty I get up to four years or when I hit 60K miles. So I assume it will be more like 2 and a half years... anyways, to my question finally, should I keep the warranty or should I return it while I can get a full return. Do the minis have very many big problems with them before 60k miles to make my nearly $2000.00 worth it or should I keep the money and fix the small problems that come along? Thanx

I say get rid of the warranty. Why buy 2000 in repairs in advance (plus any deductible)? 60000 miles is nothing.

One thing to remember - if a MINI dealer repairs your car - that part is warrantied for 2 years after the repair - no matter how old the MINI is.

Good luck

Well ... you got to read the complaints forums.

For example my dealer said the clutch will go for sure before 50K. Go see how many ppl had to replace their clutch

In general, extended warranties are a gamble where the insurance company wins. But sometimes, the consumer wins!

... but a clutch is a wear item and not covered by warranty. So the question is, will a non wear item break in the next 36k miles AND cost more than $2000 to fix. Thats the gamble of the warranty.

If extended warranties weren't ridiculously profitable for the companies that sell them, they wouldn't exist. Take from that what you wish...
