hey guys...my friend has a volkswagon GTI...and he keeps on wanting to race me...haha not wanting to turn down the challenge i said... ok anytime...but then again...who would win if i have a 05 stock MCS with no JCW kit...and him with a stock GTI? just wondering...and how can i beat him?

Start by understanding the forum rules on "illegal racing" and phrase your question better.

Second, take it to a track. That's the only real way to determine who is better, without all of those pesky distractions on the road. You know, ones like traffic lights, other cars, pedestrians, SPEED LIMITS, etc.

but i hat eto break it to you bro, but if hes got a mark V GTI dont plan on walking away with the trophy, unless your friend does a bad launch

If you want a race that gets the wreath around your neck take it to the autoX course. Of course theres a lot on the drivers, but all things being equal, tight courses is where the MCS shines

 

well on the track of course :p you would win, ive seen MCS taking gti and gli. infact you can take a chiped gti

 

Or race him on the Salt Flats for top end, you can get him there also, by 5 mph. A JCW will just run even 0-60 and 1/4 mile per Road and Track.

 

My bet would be on the MINI. GTIs have gone fat and soft until the 2007 return. Even better if there are twisties on the track.

 

It really depends on which motor he has... the 1.8 or VR6, he'll have more power than you, but you have the weight advantage. My bet would still be on the Mini

 

drag race - gti with dsg will win
road course - mini

go to racing school and stop wasting time thinking about racing people when you have no racing experience... "racing" is a big word... and generally when you don't know what you are doing... ie you have to ask people which car would win such an event... you have absolutly no business doing it.

A lot has to do with the skill of the driver....

Did anyone see the recent episode of "Bullrun" on Spike TV? They put a Lamborghini Murcielago against a Ford F-150 on a slalom course.... and the F-150 won.

With equal drivers, clearly the Lambo would win, but the guy totally sucked... hehe...

That is a JCW car too so yours will be slower.

i second this not because i owned one but because my friend has a 2007 two door civic si, and hes not that hard to beat, i just shift before him

 

if it is a mkv he will probably win if he's chipped mkv he's putting around 275 whp and there is no chance at all.

i can take a MK.5 R32 w/ just an intake, exaust, n pully. my p/w is better. plus. i can take my friends 264 WHP GTI / traction on

i used to own a gti!! it depends.
does he have an mkiv or mkv?
mkiv, you'd win, mkv he'd win.
(but you are lighter) so you may not need another 37hp (to make your 163hp up to his 200hp) to keep up. maybe less than that seeing as how your'e lighter.
so maybe a smaller pulley and intake would do it. add an exhaust and you got him no problem!!

 

Im a member of a racing school b4boa0, it's called the drivers edge. They're in the northern texas area, if your anywhere around there. go to www.thedriversedge.net for info. The schooling really helped me, so much in fact on motorsport ranch outside of ft.worth, i was keeping up with a porsche 996 TT. Im sure the driver had a lot to do with it though, but it does feel good to say i kept up with a car like that in justacooper with an exhaust. It's a good investment. (BTW, he left me in the straights, just so theres no conflict started. I'd catch him through the corners though.)
