Help! Flat in Manhattan!

Hello folks! A few weeks ago we had our side mirrors taken out of our Mini, and replaced them at a dealership near us (in Westchester). Now we have a flat on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I'd call AAA, but the last time I did that for the Mini nearby where we live, the guy didn't even know where the spare was, and I wound up putting it on myself. Things are a little different if you car is parked on a Manhattan street. I can't do anything until I go down to the city tomorrow anyway (my wife works in the city and is going to sleep at her office overnight). Does anyone have any recommendations for getting it fixed? Mini of Manhattan is about 2 miles away, so that seems like the best option, if not an expensive one. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd be game for almost anything. I'm really hoping this isn't a ploy to strip the car...you know, give it a flat, and while the owners aren't around...well, it's Manhattan.

Thanks!

Ya, its Manhatten, not Brooklyn or The Bronx

Relax, give Mini of Manhatten a call and they will be more the helpful I'm sure.

Just change it or call roadside assistance. You have free roadside assistance through mini for 3 years. You said you had AAA I think, so if you don't know how to put it on (Or your wife doesn't) just have them do it. You can always show them where the spare is if they can't figure it out. Sleeping in the office is a bit drastic for a flat!

thanks for all the replies!

it turned out to not be as bad as i thought. there was a big hole in the sidewall, which couldn't be patched. luckily is was parked, the flat was on the street side, and there wasn't any snow behind the car. the jack worked easily, the lug nuts were a bit hard, but with some pressure loosened (counter clockwise). i put on the mini-spare and drove it to mini of manhattan. service was fast...i had to leave it for the day, but it was convenient. the dealership is nice and professional, with helpful employees.

i was looking around on the internet for alternatives, and found the continental tire kit that inflates the tire, putting some sort of sealer in the tire. in my case, it wouldn't have worked, but i wonder if others have tried this kit with any success. it sure would beat waiting for roadside service in the middle of nowhere without cell phone service.

best,
me
