What do you think I can get from my MCS?

Hello everyone. I have been thinking long and hard, and still have a lot of thinking before I make a final descision on this but with the course my life has taken in he last few months I am thinking it might be time to let the MINI go until I am a little more comforatlbe down the line where I can get another one. I need to get back into school for a degree and by selling the MINI that would really speed things up and let me pay off my current debts quicker and get back into school that much sooner. So I am currious what you guyst hink I might be able to get for mny car if I let it go via private sale. So here are the details:

2003 MSC 6-Speed Indi Blue 43K Miles (Under warranty until 05/07)
Cold Weather Package
Premium Package
Sport Package
Leather Seats (Lapis Blue)
HK Audio System
Navigation
S-Lites
Aero Kit
Xenons with Washers
Factory Alarm

That is the stock stuff, the stuff installed aftermarket (which I know doesnt count for much) is:

JCW Carbon Fiber dash, downtubes, trim rings, shifter **** and e-brake Handle
Alcantara Shift boot and E-Brake Boot
Denison IceLink
Megan Racing Coilovers
M7 Strut Tower Brace
Cusco Carbon Fiber Rear Strut Tower Brace
Alta 19mm Rear Sway Bar
Alra Lower Control Arms
Ultrik Skid Plate
MOMO Corse RPM 17" Wheels in Black
Yokohama AVS-EX100's
Alta 15% SC Pulley
Alta Intake
M7 DFIC with heatshield
M7 Carbon Fiber Hood Scoop
JCW Carbon Fiber Boot Handle
JCW Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps

In order to maximize my profits I may remove some items and sell them separately but not any of the more involved things like suspension parts or SC pulley.

Imperfections:

Scratched headlights (keyed before I bought the car)
Rock Chips on front bumper
Rock chips on side skirts

Other than that the car loks great and I get compliments on it everywhere I go. Also the clutch was replaced on it under warranty at 22K miles as it was making a strange noise when cold. So what do you guys think? That car is located in Massachusetts and I am the second owner.

I would say that you'll be looking at around, 16k, maybe a bit less, i'm interested in a lot of parts that you have on your car, let me know if your interested in parting it out.

I see you getting about $2500 just in removing the aftermarket items and selling individually. Add that to the sale price of the car and you're looking maybe 18,000 total, maybe a bit more.

I would think closer to $18k to start, then sell the mods for additional fundage.
Good luck!

For reference... I bought a 2003 MCS bone stock with 29.5k miles and the warranty ends on 09/07. I bought this 6 months ago and paid 18.5k. I don't think I got an amazing deal but I felt it was still fair. IMHO if I were buying used a heavily modded car would decrease what I would be willing to pay considerably.

There is no doubt that you're better off parting out the upgrades . . .
and I'm not just saying that because I'm interested in the Alta pulley and the IceLink

Watch out be4tnut, the mod vultures are already circling!

I would have to agree though. To most buyers (even enthusiasts) a car being modded not only does not help the value, but often decreases the overall value. There is the odd sale here and there that is the exception to that rule, but in general parting out a majority of the mods is a good idea if your going to sell it.

like everyone says. which is true.
partin it out and then selling the car would be way more profitable.
you make everyone on the forums happy (by selling your parts)
and you make the buyer happy (makin the car look bone stock)
but then again..you can try selling the car with all those parts on it.
put a high reasonable price on it and if it doesnt sell. part it out.

I think this is good advice. You never know who's looking for what. Someone saw Flo parked outside the service garage recently (she was in for an oil/filter change) and stopped asking if she were for sale. They reallllly wanted her. I could have made a profit even giving the garage a commission. I think it's cause I've been following all the great tips here on NAM for keeping da Mini clean and shining. I couldn't sell her though. She's still a baby; only a little more than six months old.

Yeah I think what I may do is just go to MINIs on Top for one last MINI Event and slap a for sale sign on it as is. If nobody there bits on it I will revert it to stock condition and go from there. I prefer to sell things locally but once I know exactly what I have for sale then I will post up here. As of right now it looks like MINIs on Top will be the beginig of my sell my MINI campaign. Not one I want to carry out but I know that it is the right thing for me to do this point and time. I hope to get another one down the road though once I am out of school and a little more stable.

Out here in the Northwest where they are still a little harder to come by, the car would go for about $20K in stock config according to KBB.

Yeah I actually just put it through www.edmunds.com with the factory options they had on their list and it gave me like $19.2 for private party value. I think I will price it a little higher than that as is and see what kind of response I get. If nobody bites I will lower it a little bit and take off the aftermarket goodies and sell those on the side.
