06 Arm rest question

I have an 06 MCS with the arm rest option...does anybody know how to keep the top of the armrest from sliding back (to open the storage area) at the slightest movement? I'd like to figure out a way to keep it pretty well shut unless I really wanted/needed it to come open.

Thanks,
dave

Mine did that when I first got my car. Now that I have had my car for over a year, no problems. I guess you must adjust to work with it. I love mine and I would never think of not having it.

I have the same issue. My MA told me to complain about it at my next service appt.

I saw an armrest in an '07 last night and it was a LOT better. Maybe if we raise a stink, they'll replace it with the '07 part!

I had issues with my armrest opening up, and the dealer replaced it. It's a defect. Over time, I'm guessing they will all loosen up, as it's probably a design flaw.

I'm just more careful now when I open it up and close it...

Mine would not stay closed when I picked mine up, so the dealership replaced it and it has been fine ever since (4 months).

My first arm rest did that, and I had the dealer replace it under warranty. The second one stays shut.

I usually keep a tall water bottle in the (only useable) cupholder behind it, that way when it opens it'll only open about 1" before the bottle stops it.

The 1st mod I did to my 06 was to remove the arm rest. It was always in the way no matter if it was up or down.

I have also never had a problem with mine. It shut very tightly from day one.

I am happy to sell it. Look at a MINI with a factory install and notice the difference in the emergency brake cover part between the seats. I don't know what else you need for a clean mount with trim parts. Maybe we could swap. Everything came aprt as a snap out fit or with a screw driver with torx bit. Look at the attached picture and compare to your car.

My armrest has been a tight fit since new. It takes a good push to get it open, even when nothing is in there. I'd see if the dealer would be willing to take a look at it and possibly replace it.

I just got mine yesterday. I have had the car for one week. Mine works fine. Lets hope they have fixed the issue in the manufacturing.

lol

uh no. That might impact my ability to make payments on Max. Mostly with my hands, elbows knees and feet. and only wood. The slightly longer version of the story it that the name Bryan is a very common. And in my church the decided instead of calling me little Bryan they would call me Bryankia because of all the kickboxing I did (I have been out of it for a couple years). So now you know "the rest of the story".
