My most recent cars have been a Volvo 850, Toyota Sequoia, Chrysler Minivan (two- worst cars I ever owned), Toyota Corrolla, and Subaru wagon... The MINI Cooper S, by far, offers the most enjoyable driving experience I have ever had. Maybe it is because of the pure blandness that my other cars were designed to be?

I just love to drive the thing! If I know I am going to have a busy (stressful) day at work, I make sure I drive the MINI because I know it will relieve me at the end of the day.

From posting boards like this, I know other people feel the same way as me.

2002 MCS Red-on-Red, premium, sport, cold weather, Panther Black Leather, 17" w/Dunlop performance runflats

I know how you feel tonygba.
See I work night, from 11:00pm to 7:00am and man that is the time of morning traffic. If you know the L.A traffic is a mad house but by being in the MINI that just
make my day.

I used to drive the BMW Z3 be for I trade in for the MINI Cooper S and thing are
never the same any more. hehehehehhehehehe

Late welcome to MCO Tonygba-
Yes the MCS is a blast to drive. Ever take it to 5000 to 6000 rpm in any gear? Assuming you have more than 1300 miles on it, try 2nd or 3rd. Don't shift just take it up to about 6000-6400. It's really loud but you can see what it can do. Most of the time we tend to drive it easy in the 3000 to 4500 rpm range. You never really get to feel the power of the MCS. You just get small glimpses.

Enroll in a driving school class for a day or two. You'll learn how to drive your MCS properly and safely. Great stuff, you'll enjoy driving even more. I highly recommend it.

And double Yes, before I got my MCS, I drove a 91 Dodge caravan. I had 125,000 miles on it. Fun to drive. Nope, I'm afraid not. But I did save for about 11 years and that was enough to buy my MCS for cash.

What I find great about the MCS is that although there IS power, it is not excessive. Handling is it's strength and power is complementary to that. Some people want to add power but then you'll need to balance that with better suspension, better wheels, better brakes if you want the car to handle well.

Remember to turn right when you are supposed to turn left

Like when I was driving from 2minis' in St. Pete up to sndwave's in Fort Walton Beach, FL...and drove into a huge rainstorm...and couldn't see the signage...and missed the 10 West Interchange...and ended up 60 miles into Georgia...Tifton, GA! LMAO!!

Another thing to add to this thread...the MINI is the most comfortable cross-country vehicle!! I am able to drive for hours on end because it is SO MUCH FUN!! So, I can make some very long legs when needed and not get too fatigued! YAY!

LaBoy_Mini : You went from a Z3 to a MCS? That's exactly what I'll be doing in 3 wks. What Z3? How is the MINI different/better? The Z3 is defnitely fun - the MINI is more fun?

Yes driving a MINI compared to a regular car is like the difference between water-skiing and riding up in the boat

Sometimes when I am anxious or don't know what to do, I will just go motoring for a bit to clear my mind and find someplace i have never been

Driving has been a great joy of mine since I can recall. The family always went out on Sunday cruises when I was a kid. It didn't take nearly as much time to reach the end of civilization around Denver as it does now (20-25 years ago). I loved the rides. When I was old enough to drive, my friends and I would take similar long pointless drives. I just wish those old country roads I used to drive 10+ years ago were still in the country. I still have my fun, I just have to go a little bit more out of the way to have it.

Only car I've ever had which entices me to go for a drive after 11:00 PM just because I feel like having fun. Find some deserted twisties, turn on the high beams, and come back smiling from ear to ear. Almost feels like getting off a good amusement park ride-"Let's go again!!!"

#1 reason why a MINI is better than an amusement park ride is that you can always go again!
