REVISED WIND NOISE POST

does anyone have a lot of wind noise at 60-70 mph above the windshield with the sunroof closed and the windows closed. my 03 mc was very quiet but my new 06 mcs is very noisy. dealer road tested it and heard the wind noise but said they have not heard about any fix from bmw mini. we tested a demo on the lot and it had the same wind noise. very bothersome. help!!!

Don't hate me for saying this, but I get it closer to the 150 km/h or 90 mph mark. But yeah, I get it, too. Extra whine.

This issue used to be caused in the 02-06s by having the recirculate button on the A/C active.

My 07 Cooper S also has a wind noise. I didn't play with the AC settings to see if it changes with them yet. The noise starts at about 78 - 85mph though, so I am not too worried about it.

I have the same wind noise on my 06 MCS at the same speeds. I thought of asking the dealer to check it when I come for my first service.

i had a weird high pitched wind noise too. but that was when there was ice on my car and when it was pretty cold outside. (wasn't going highway speed. more like city speed)
but i dont really have any wind noise now. after the ice that is. weird.
mcs does have a bit of wind noise tho when going fast on the highway.
cars can never be perfect..but...you never know!

The ice changed the air flow over the car, probably leaving a smaller rut for air to pass through, which is what created the high pitched sound you heard.

I get a wind noise at 65 to 70. I plan to try to locate the source by taping off (blue painters tape) areas till I narrow it down, then see if the dealer can do something.
06 with sunroof. I'm not sure the noise comes from the roof.

Not on the Autobahn...

I have an '05 MCS US Spec that I drive here in Germany, typically over 100MPH while on the way to work. Even with ice or no ice, I have no blatantly terrible wind noise, no more than a car driving 100+ normally does. Maybe your sunroof is not sealing properly? That would be my first guess.
