My new '06 MCS... A pic or two
Hi all!
I've been reading all the threads at this GREAT web site for a while now, and just thought I would introduce myself and show a pic or two of my new car.
I've been a Porsche Fanatic for many, many years but I have always lusted after a Mini. A bunch of my Porsche buddies have had their Mini's for a couple of years or so and I felt I just HAD to have one too.
I bought it last week and I'm already guilty of neglecting the Porsche's in the Garage. The Mini is just too much fun to not drive all the time.

yeah but his 356 is what really has me, want to show it off a little more the wheel? the giant pole is really blocking it
Wow!!
Thanks everyone for all the kind words and warm welcome!
Lets see, to respond to some of the comments......
Mark C.... No, the Cayenne S is tucked away in the garage at night, not the Mini. Blame my wife! Although she said jokingly after driving the Mini "maybe we should sell the Cayenne S and get ANOTHER Mini for me".
CWay27.....Glad to see another Rennlister here. 993 or ?
Mods?..... Oh boy! I know the slippery slope all too well with the Porsche's. The Mini is all ready for wheels/tires and a CAI. Probably will at least put the break-in miles on the car before doing the pulley, throttle body etc. But who knows, when you get an itch, you gotta scratch it!
Here's a couple of pics of the "non-Minis", as requested.

Robert, nice to see you over here. We were introduced to each other at the TRE Motorsports New Years Day Run. I have been reading JoAnne's posts on the Tiki Lounge about your new MINI.
I recently bought a MINI MCSCW as well to keep my own speed yellow 993 company in our garage. So far I have swapped in H&R springs, an H&R 19mm rear sway bar and Bilstein shocks and right now the MINI has very similar handling characteristics to my Porsche. It is very impressive.
I look forward to seeing the pics as you start modding your MINI.
Regards,
Grant

Yeah tell me about it. I've been itching and scratching all winter long and its still not over yet.
No I am not from 993 side of the moon, more of 964 (white RSA) kind of guy but kind of herd all the commotion going on in the 993 world..... If you know what I mean.
P.S. How do you guys get the insignia (one for every color) of owner's club in your signature??

This thread will get you going in the right direction: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=71218
Are you referring to the wackiness on the RL 993 forum? I think that sort of died down a bit recently. Spring is coming so now folks have a better outlet for their pent up emotions - modifying their cars and getting ready for the DE/AX season.
Wow again!
Thanks everyone for the welcome.
Hey Grant, it was great meeting you at the New Years Day run. That was one FAST run!
Gromit801....The LeMans poster deserves a place in the house, not the garage!
mini_dreams....We are in Hot Springs, Arkansas (for the time being, house is FOR SALE) and drove over to Roadshow to pick up the Mini, since there is NO Mini dealer in AR. No Porsche dealer either. Lots of Shivvy dealers though! If you are ever over this way, please stop by and see us. Besides the "real" Porsches, there are over 2000 scale model Porsches on display. Now I have to start collecting Mini scale models!
blissfull....Thanks, We live on Lake Hamilton and that pic was taken on Lake Catherine just down the road.

Bath Tub!
Robert,
Welcome! I someday hope to also have a 356 A to share the garage with my MCS...you have a beautiful example.
I'd be interested in hearing how the driving experience of your new Cooper S compares to your 356...or, due to obvious differences in layout and era, are they just too much like apples and oranges?

Not to highjack Robert's thread, but we also have a 356 ('64 SC), and the MINI wins! That the Porsche has a prayer of competing testifies to Ferry's 40+ year old design, though.
Robert--time to sell that house and move to Texas (although I know your heart lies in California). Say hi to JoAnne for me!
