Congratulations on the sweet garage and cars. Are you going to sweeten the Mini soon? I had to buy mine sweet.

I'd be interested in hearing how the driving experience of your new Cooper S compares to your 356...or, due to obvious differences in layout and era, are they just too much like apples and oranges?
Thanks dwj5,
The two cars are similar in some ways, like the raw driving experience and the feel of the road you get when you grip the steering wheel tight! But very different on many other levels. In the 356, you feel like you are being "pushed" by the rear engine and the MCS is more of a "pull" feeling.
When you get in a 356, you are in a different mode than just about anything else out there. It's not about HP and I can do better 0-60 than the other guy. Although, once you get going, the car will run at 100mph ALL day long (on the Autobahn) and still get amazing mpg!
That said....I had a 55 356 Outlaw with a 914 Type IV motor that put out about 175hp and only weighed around 1500 lbs. I could scare Corvettes with that car!

Thanks Orca,
Going to order wheels & tires next week and probably a CAI. I'm trying really hard to control myself (a little bit) not to go down the slippery slope TOOOOOOO fast!

Robert & daffodildeb,

Thanks for the responses about your 356's! I greedily soak up anything about the 356 like a sponge. They are fantastic little cars and I've always been curious how a modern Cooper might compare.

Thanks again!
