Is there a BMW MINI person out there that can give us an update on new MINI model for 04/05. The MINIUSA site is useless for any real MINI info because it is fancy but not informative.

Here something to read about the New MINi Cooper Convertible 2004 model.

http://pc99.detnews.com/autosinsider...x.hbs?myrec=55

Cooper to expand on 'cute' with convertible

After its successful introduction into the market, BMW is currently developing a Mini Cooper convertible. The all-too-cute cabrio is scheduled to hit European roads as early as summer of 2003. Dealerships here are hoping the cabrio will arrive before the 2004 model year ends. The engine range is expected to remain the same as the current models.

I've heard/read that the 2005 MINI will have a new engine. Rumor says it will be a supercharged Peugeot 2.0L (that will also be used in the 206)!!! Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks. I didn't realize that it was going to be a different chassis as well. That really makes the MINI's future uncertain since the current MINI seems ideal, IMO.

Wouldn't it cost BMW to change the chassis? Why not change just the engine?

Hold on to your 2002, 2003, 2004 MINIs! My wife has already accepted the fact that our 2002 will probably have a permanent space in our garage despite our next car purchase!

Don’t be so negative on the new proto-type MINI’s. A car company is in business to sell cars. Don’t think your sport type MCS will be compromised in performance because they put a rag top on one model or four doors on another.

There are mini vans, panel wagons and even Woody’s around the world. It’s a MINI world so just motor with what you want in life.

I agree on the Cabrio...with the top up it looks EXACTLY like the VW Cabrio which I don't like. The only difference will be The MINI's headlights! Besides, from the pictures, the blind spot is HUGE! 3/4 of the rear passenger window is gone! Part of the great safety of the MINI is the ability to avoid accidents due to its small size and great handling. But a blind spot like that is asking for trouble!

Yeah, I'm not wild about the Cabrio...looks like a small couch on the back (and I'm a "chick&quot, but for to-ing and fro-ing when ya need alot of access...I kinda like the 4-door version. Not sure that I'd actually buy one, however.

why taint the brands most famous part.. The flat roof. I am unhappy they are making it. People need to understand that sometimes it is a poor idea to damage a 40 year brand image for a few extra sales to make up for the ugly new 5 series.

I say instead of trying to make money on a MINI convertible FIRE CHRIS bANGLE

The 4 door is just step 3 in the new model process, I'm sure those who hate it that much can deal with it. They're trying to make a MINI for each Classic Mini model, and I think its pretty cool. You don't have to like them all. I think the 4 door is nice, would make a GREAT woody or panel van. Would rather keep the flip up tailgate though, don't like the look of the Excursion-type doors.

I think I just reconfirmed what sndwave said there.

As for the Pugeout thing.... ugh... don't get me wrong, I don't mind Pugeouts... but just the thought of having something French in the MINI...
