Yep, 380 (reseted tripometer on fill up)

Around 260 miles of that was freeway, lots of cruising because I went to Palm Springs over the weekend. I came back home and still had lots of gas in the car so I decided to see how much I could stretch the tank. I am really impressed, all I did was avoid redline, I had a number of quick runs on the open freeway stretches as well. Normally I wont get to 300 on a full tank with my mix of 60% city/40% freeway driving.

When I went to gas up, the computer showed 20miles left. The tank topped out completely at 12.5 gallons. Mileage was indicated at 30.9mpg, I think thats correct yea? Funny thing is, when I started the car with the full tank of gas, the computer showed the driving range: 380 miles (exactly what I got before)

Anyway, just wanted to share my first longer-than-usual road trip by noting the fuel consumption with you guys. Oh and the car has 4000 miles.

Nice! What was your average speed? I've been on road trips but never managed that. Of course, I go 85 - 90 on the interstate.

Just got back from a long trip to SoCal from the Bay Area down I-5 and got 28.7 on the way down and 29.8 on the way back! My speed ranged from high 70's to mid 90's.

Great gas mileage, lot's of fun to drive, what's not to like?

Yes, before I got my S I figured that I was going to get mid 20s on the highway. I just don't drive the 2 minis way! I drive that way in short time frames, but I short shift and don't drive agressively most of the time. I am getting at least 30 usually about 31 on the highway and the worst full tank of mostly city driving has been about 26. Calculated not from the computer. Which is pretty close to the calculation if you reset everything after a fill up.

Me either...If I get over 22mpg I think something is wrong. How are these guys getting that much?? Is it the intake?? Or just fast driving. I can't drive this car like an old lady...It wants to go so we go !!!!!

My sister, MiniCookie, has told me she has gotten 400 miles to the tank of gas on her Cooper. So all this seems completely possible.

Oh, and she normally does a nice mix of city and highway driving.

I have a 2003 MINI, and I have been experimenting with the gas mileage. If I set the cruise control at 50 mph on a flat highway, I am getting around 45-47 mpg according to the on-board computer. If I set the cruise at 60, I get about 35-37 mpg. If I set the cruise at 70, I get about 30-32 mpg. This car gets great fuel mileage. I can tell from my monthly fuel bill. It has decreased drastically since I bought this great little car. I have 8500 miles on the car and have never had one problem except for the recall on the bolts on the rear suspension. BMW of Nashville did the recall work. It only took 30 minutes and they treated me very well there.

    Fuel economy love...!

I usually tend toward about 30mpg highway... but the last time I drove back to school I was in a hurry, so I kept my revs right at or, occasionally, slightly above 3k as I sped along my way (relatively speaking--about 80mph in sixth). I generally try to keep ye old revs to around 2.5k. Well... best fuel economy ever. It's like, the harder I drive it, the better my mileage (or the car just likes to run at 3k). Ok, fine with me, either way!

Normal in my MC is right at about 32.5, but I just did a whole bunch of at speed hightway driving (70MPH +/-) my trip odo read 385 and I only put in 10.5 gallons! That's the best I've gotten on a tank yet (36.6MPG).

I'm curious tho...anyone think that the MINI One D will really go 1,000KM (approx. 600 miles) on a tank?

    Oh, oh, PICK ME!!!!!

    I want one Soooo bad.

People are caliming that MINI won't send them to the US because the Diesel
here has too much sulfer in it.

I haven't taken the time to look around to see if that's really true, or just
    "Internet-true"

    Anyone have authoritative URLs?

Last week seems to have been the time for long trips and measuring mpg.

I did a loop trip from Reno to Las Vegas, 546 miles down and 443 miles return. The return was done on one tank of gas with 57 miles remaining per the OBC Range reading. My OBC average was 38.5mpg and a manual calculation gave me 38.8mpg for the entire trip. I estimate that I got over 41 for a long relatively flat section.

When you fill up it will set the range at approximatly 13 times your "most recent" average. I'm not sure how this "most recent" is computed but it is NOT the OBC Average. It is interesting to watch the Range while driving, a real kick to see the Range going up as the Odometer is also going up.
