Side mirror removal help needed please

The reflective part of my driver's side mirror fell off upon closing the door. In re-attaching it (snapping back on) I think I put it on upside down (not realizing there was an upside down). It looks as though it's not exactly symmetrical as the gap is a little bit bigger at the top than before. My problems is I am now unable to get if off to reattach it (maybe I should let my 4 year old daughter slam the door again )If anyone has ever removed this part of the mirror could you please tell me how you did it? It looked as though there was a series of tabs in a circular pattern that clicked into slots on the part that held it. I don't see a way to get to the tabs. Thanks for any advice.

See here. The mirror cover removal section is about 2/5 of the way down. With the cover off, you should be able to see the mirror connections.

I did, but it was not easy. There are four tabs (similar to the tabs for the cover). The only problem is you have to prop all 4 with popsicle sticks or strips of plasic. I used an old credit card and cut it into 4 long pieces. this way, you could modify the plastic to the exact width of the tabs. You'll be able to see the tabs through the openings at the back.

**if you prop the two lower or upper, it may just pop out with a little help by pushing the glass from the back**

I'll post some pictures of the backside later when I get home. I have a pair of mirror housing without the glass. Leftover from the european mirror swap.

You have to use the remote toggle switch and turn the mirror
all the forward. Thus tilting the mirror 100% forward will give you
a tiny 5-6mm gap to stick a skinny butterknife or screwdriver in.
Place the butterknife tip just under the ilttle plastic tabs.
Dont force it to hard or they will break. Do this for all taps.
Use a flash light to see in the mini crack and snake
the tabs open. Sliding along the crack opening after you
release a clip. Then move to the next one... ect
Goodluck it can be done.

hope this helps

As you lift these tabs slowly, push on the back of the mirror softly. You'll feel the tabs release, prop the tabs or the back of the mirror with something that will prevent the tabs from snaping back.
