Temporarily without my MINI support thread.

I dropped Swifty off at the body shop Monday... finally. Getting the side swipe dent fixed.

Have been driving my daughter's "new" car, a 2000 Hyundai Elantra sedan; alloy wheels, blob wing on the trunk, automatic *yawn* tranny, throw-the-anchor-out brakes.

I have been transformed into a plodding, really really boring, meek, "do I have to go?", did I say boring? kind of guy.

Damn I miss my MINI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear Swifty is getting fixed up.

My MINI is in the body shop too right now. I removed my aero kit spoiler and the car is now getting the holes in the hatch from the MC spoiler removal filled and the top of th hatch painted. So I'm driving around in a new Jetta for now. I miss my MINI.

Aww, no need to pout, Kurt, just take a short drive over to Texas and you can get sideways just like in the MINI.
In solidarity, I will drive my 85 CRX to work until Swifty is back.

I feel your pain Kurt. When I got my Mini I noticed how traffic jams & long trips didn't bother me like they used to. If I had to switch back .
Your Mini will be back soon

Kurt, listen carefully: You MUST get out of the Hyundai every 50 miles. Clear your mind, and picture your MINI. Walk around a little. Remind yourself that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

You must take these measures to ensure that your personality is not affected by the Hyundai. I drove a rented Elantra when Prudence was in the shop last year, and it started to affect my whole outlook on life.

Oh, one more thing...do NOT fall asleep in the Hyunda...that's when the pods come!

Consider this as a time of complete "purification".

ok Kurt, how could you let your daughter drive an Elantra? I think that's the question here. About time you got Swifty fixed! poor little thing. *wink*
This time apart will make you appreciate him more.

How could I find a $6100 MINI Cooper? With an automatic. She thinks she's too cute as it is, don't want to make it worse.
About time... now I can be more paranoid about getting dinged.

I'm driving much slower, like I'm driving a car with drum brakes (rear are). Funny how I keep trying to adjust the radio volume on the steering wheel.
I do like the glovebox better than the MINI.

I'm deployed in Afghanistan, and have been for ~53 days, I'll be home soon to motor in the HotRod though

Many nights spent laying in bed thinking about the Cooper S and driving, trying to go to sleep.

That sure puts things into perspective, HRP! Best wishes for a safe journey home and thanks for your service.

HotRodPilot should have said:

Quit your whining!

We should all remember those in service of our country.

this time apart from your MINI will make it so much sweeter when you get it back. Every relationship needs some time apart to make you realize how wonderful it is

Got Swifty back!

Here is the side I've had to avoid.

It was frustrating seeing another MINI and thinking "don't wave stupid."

Everyone can stop worrying about me now. *whew*

Worrying completed. How about some "after" shots? (not like you need an excuse to take some shots).
