$17,000 Cooper? Worth it?

So here's the deal...

I need to move quick on a MINI that I have found but not sure if it is a great deal.

2004 Cooper, Gold
Manual
Loaded... everything on it.
only 11,000 Km's (ummm 8,000 miles)
Lady driven, stored in the winters (Canada tends to get some snow)
$20,000 Canadian ($17,000 USA)

First.. is this a good deal that I need to jump on...

Next is that I do allot of commuting, on a highway some stop and go.
I want to do some track days.. I estimate 3 - 4 a year.
I am a Mechanic so some handling modifications would be done after warrenty is done.

Should I wait and Spend the $5,000 more for a cooper S with similar Milage.
I have driven a Cooper and loved the handling.. Top speed does not interest Me much. I have a bike for that.

Any info will help. Please speak freely. (besided the color part).

i would say if you can get them down to 16,000 or so jump all over it. Otherwise its an ok deal depending on packages and options.

Sounds pretty fair, not earth shattering though. If gold is your thing, though, there weren't as many of those made.

That's the issue with used Minis - the cars themselves are so personal that you can't just look for A mini, you have to look for THE mini.

Good luck in your quest.

The price isn't bad given the condition and mileage. My vote is yes!

Not a bad price, could be just a little better. The mileage is very good. I wouldn't buy if I really didn't love the gold. That was a strange color.

If you like the gold color then you should get it.....There are very few gold cars out there to be had, its likely you wont find another in that fine condiion in such a rare color

You said that it's loaded with "everything" - one thing to ask yourself is whether or not you actually want everything. A lot of the options, to a lot of people, are considered to be unnecessary or even ugly. The park distance control adds weird circular bumps to the rear bumper. The NAV knocks the classic center speedo out of position. Then there are the rain-sensing wipers, etc... a lot of people enjoy that sort of thing, but definitely ask yourself whether or not YOU do. It may be a good deal considering the options it has, but only if they are options that you yourself are likely to have chosen, that will enhance the car for you rather than annoy you. Same goes for that gold paint; I think that would be my personal absolute last choice for a color, but if you like it, then full speed ahead. Obviously a used MINI is never going to be a perfect fit, but just a few things to think about.
