Hi,

I love the new Mini and I'm considing one for my next car. One big issue is that I would need to fit 2 big dogs (German Shepherd/Lab) in it. Would they fit? Would folding the back seat down help?

Thanks!

They'd fit no problem! I'd really suggest getting cloth seats though, so they don't scudd up the leather/leatherette!

 I agree with Tollag! Dogs will fit, no problem. Another option might be to cover the seats in sheepskins or cloth that can be removed when the dogs aren't motoring with you!

I have a English Bulldog, aka, Maxamillion, Max for short and he loves motoring in the MINI S. Heck he is so happy, he is determined to get up front with me and DRIVE. He is only 80 lbs, big for a bully, but nothing like you are talking about having in the car with you. Plenty of room, just don't expect to carry anything else back there if you want it to make it in one piece.

Our two beagles fit just fine in the back! We've got the leeather seats and wonder if anyone has seen MINI's rear seat cover that they market through the dealerships? The boys sure wish the rear windows went down, but the car is short enough that they can still catch a few sniffs out the back half of the front windows if they stretch!!

Hopefully George (my dog) won't chew through the shoulder belts, like he did on my current car !!!

Been there!

We adopted one of our dogs just before Xmas. We left him in the car while Xmas tree shopping. When we came back he was playing "tug" with the roof liner

Try spraying some Grannick's Bitter Apple spray on them. You can pick it up at any pet store. Seems to keep both dogs and cats from chewing whatever it's sprayed on. I use it on stuff around my house and it keeps my cat from going near anything it's sprayed on. Just be sure to test a small area on the inside of the seat belts first to make sure that it won't stain!

If your big dogs sit nicely in the back seat you won't have problems, but if they're the kind that ride standing up and love to turn around and around, you may not have enough room back there... one would have to sit up front with you! I would think folding down the seats would make things more complicated and where do you belt them in (if you do)?

I'm so bad- I've had my Cooper 2 months now and haven't taken my girl Hershey (choc. lab) anywhere in it yet. It's so nice and new I'm still afriad of messing it up. You know, once you let your dog ride in it, there's doghair in it forever. She refuses to sit anywhere but the passenger seat. I bought a seat cover and customized it for the side airbag and to fit the sport seat. We'll have to try it out this weekend I guess.

This is what we need....

Can't remember where I found the pic..... but I think this is either offered by MINI or will be (If I remember correctly).
Either way.... I will have to find this or something like it..... I've got a 75 lb Yellow Lab and a 60 lb Blue Weimaraner. They travel with me from AL to GA and back quite a bit..... Needless to say.. this is a must for me.

I have one australian shepherd. I lower the back seats and put a thick blanket or comforter to cover the seats. Still, I have two problems. The dog sheds, and hair is ALL over the place. Second problem is nose prints on the windows. Both are easily resolved on sunday nights when I wash the car.

As Mini says.....Dogs love to motor too.

Your dogs would love the new mini and would fit fine in the back seat even without the seats pulled down. However, the back windows do not open and I know my dogs love to hang there heads out the window while we're driving.

I agree, dogs definately love to motor too! My 100+ pound golden retriever enjoys motoring so much that he put a large scratch on the drivers door trying to get in. Oh well, I forgave him with the excuse that he really loves the car. Hair is defiantely a problem though and that backseat cover made by MINI would be great, can't wait for it to come out. In the meantime I just cover my leather seats with a blanket

My parents will be going on vacation to the beach next month and they want to take the two dogs with them. My mom can take Raven in the Corolla and she asked if I could bring Marley down in the Mini....
Thing is, Marley weighs 140 pounds. There won't be enough room for my boyfriend, myself and our luggage!
I'm sure with the seats down you might be ok, but my parents can't fit both Marley and Raven in the Corolla so if your dogs are both REALLY big it might be a squeeze.

I could take Raven to the beach in the Mini...she would fit with no problem, but she would probably destroy my seats!

I've had no problem carting 2 large dogs around with the back seats folded. One is a Giant Schnauzer and the other is a Golden Retriever. I just put a comforter down over the seats and the inverted trunk organizer to make it flat all the way back. They can stand and move around, but mostly they just lounge. People are amazed when I open the hatch and they come bounding out!

The dog isn't allowed in my MINI. I hate the smell of dog in the car. Although, my wife hasn't given much choice for our trip to Southern California August 24th. If I want her to come the dog comes to. Was going to go by myself but I am going to allow the dog in for this trip, folding the seats down and placing a blanket in the back. I don't want her to ruin the leather seats. She's also getting another bath the night before.
