How do you like to motor?

Solo, or with others.

Personally i like driving solo, and except for certain lady friends, would just as well drive into a wall then motor with others. OK maybe im overstressing the situation, but motoring with most other people ruins the driving experience for me.
anyone else feel me.

so whats the consesus on preferance

Very interesting question...

I like to drive by myself. I love my mate and she is a great driver and almost as "speedy" as I. Ok, no that is not a word.
BUT, there are occasions that I want to do things that more aggressive than what others would be comfortable with. Being alone, I don't have to worry about it.

Also, while on subject, I have learned to relax and enjoy the MINI while "motoring".
I call it "turning off the ********* light". Everyone around us when we are driving, minding our own business trys to egg us on to race or whatever. I have to constantly remind myself to "turn it off" and don't pay attention to those morons.

But alas, I too have an ********* light that must remain extinguished so as not to endanger those around me, but it is really DIFFICULT sometimes.

Thank you, my rant is over.

I'd say I'm happiest when I motor alone.

But I do enjoy taking my friends out and letting them ooh and ahh at the MINI's nimble handling.

Alone, at night, in the rain up HWY84 to HWY35 to HWY9 into Santa Cruz and back. My therapy for a stressfull day.

I'd have to say solo. A girl or anyone else in the car means I would be liable for anything that occurs in response to spirited driving.

Plus motoring solo allows me some time to reflect and really just smooths out the day for me.

Reminds me of Peter Sellers in the movie "A shot in the Dark". Hey wasn't that a Mini they were in driving away from the nudist camp?

I do my motoring best alone. Sometimes with the windows down and sometimes with the music turned way UP.

In large groups you have to wait for everybody to get through traffic.
Gets to be more like a parade.

A small but fast group is nice about 3 to 5 MINIs traveling in formation just like the Italian Job.

I love to motor solo, as well as with other MINIacs. Love long road trips...

roof open, windows down, seat warmer on low this time of year. Alone lets me be a little more uninhibited.

If you mean people in the MINI, alone, but than again, I can only hold 2 people. I do like motoring with a big group, you can go faster in a group because most cops don't stop a big group of cars.

Alone here too. No matter how carefully i drive, my family will complain about:

Excessive speed (even tho I'm at or below the speed limit)
Bumpiness
Accelerating too fast
Cornering too fast (aint this what MINIs are fer?)
Lack of smooth shifting

If I had leather seats, I dare say "naked" would be another way I'd like to motor.

"Ruins" might be a stretch, I suppose, but I am definitely more distracted w/ people in the car. I therefore prefer to motoring w/o.

I enjoy solo motoring most of the time. An early morning blast down Mulholland Drive or up into the Angeles Forest, is always fun. Windows down, heater on a bit (this time of year), sunroof open, maybe a little heavy metal outta the iPod, maybe some electronic.

But, my favorite is a good road trip with my girlfriend in the co-motorers seat, and the pooch in the back. My g/f has been slowly starting to lose the "Oh my gawd" screams from her side of the MINI. The pooch is great, she just hunkers down in the seat and hangs on. And they both truly enjoy going quick thru some twisties. The g/f's screams have mutated into little giggles now.

If they had a helmet that would fit the pooch, I bet she would love going to a track day..hehehehehe...

same reason of all i love motoring solo

also people expect me, the driver, to be in a conversationalist mood when im with them. all my friends say im rude when i drive because i dont talk (or initiate convos, when someone else does ill talk with them in my car), but i live by silence is golden when im driving, and if they want to chit chat they can initiate a conversation

SOLO!

Then I'm not worried about making my wife get thrown into the door when I take a turn too fast. She doesn't appreciate "vigorous" motoring.

To paraphrase a VW GTI commercial, "My FAST gets in the way of relationships".

She just likes cruising with the AC. I'm a windows and sunroof open, accelerating fool. Gotta hear my ALTA intake wailing at full volume at me.

I know you know what I'm talking about!
