R50/53 How do you like to motor?
Gander and Goose.
I just drive from point to point when my wife’s aboard and motor solo. That is, like lots of wives/girl-friends/significant others, my wife thinks I drive to fast, accelerate too hard, and corner insanely. Funniest thing, though. A few days ago she followed me down the twisties that connect our rural abode to the freeway and kept right on my tail in her shiny new 5-speed Forester. I was in motoring mode, if not quite full bore, and she said later that she was perfectly cool at that pace. But the next time she was with me in the Mini, the same rate of knots on that route had her pushing her foot through the floor, bracing herself against the door . . . all the usual symptoms of shotgun anxiety. I could have taxed her with hypocrisy. But how do I respond when I ride shotgun in the Forester? Don’t ask. My excuse? I pretend it’s that the car is so tall and leans so much and seems so wide, but it’s probably just that I’m a lousy passenger who wants all the driving done my way. But, hey! Who isn’t? Sauce for the goose. Motoring’s a lot more fun for the slinger than for the slung.
Solo, or with others.
Personally i like driving solo, and except for certain lady friends, would just as well drive into a wall then motor with others. OK maybe im overstressing the situation, but motoring with most other people ruins the driving experience for me.
anyone else feel me.
so whats the consesus on preferance

Out of circumstance I motor almost exclusivivly alone, which allows me to adapt a certain way of going about corners; tis rare I get a passenger who will trust me, esp. with the occasional extremely late braking. And in the MINI that usually means a few punches on my arm. (and hearing the throttle blip as the brakes are full on has drawn a few odd looks lol)
With a lady in the car I tend ot be on my best behavoir, it can be just as enjoyable time, but the driving portion of the motoring is less fun; however motoring is far more than driving.
With other MINIs small packs (2-5) of people I trust I have found most enjoyable, if the crowd gets too large it can lose its fun quickly. However I'll never forget my first meet wuth a dozen MINIs following ME to see them stacked up in my rearview mirror simply amazing!!!

for me it depends on the mission but, i do enjoy having my lady with me-music loud-sunroof open-cruisin' kinda feeling.
on the flip side i also enjoy the-hans solo-100mph-music off-all windows up and open road gig....nothin beats that.

This pops up on NAM on a regular basis! I was just waiting for it!
