R50/53 Dealer Delivery, Just Curious?
Dealer Delivery, Just Curious?
We picked up our new MCS last Wednesday and everything went very smoothly. The car was ready and prepped although I thought it could have been cleaner. The salesman went over the car and showed us how everything worked, very similar to our bimmers, so no problem there. The financial lady had already sold us two previous cars so the paperwork was done in advance, all we had to do was sign. The dealer gave us a snazzy blue duffel bay with umbrella printed with dealer name, I already have 3 of them but what the heck. I'm just curious, what did your dealers give you or throw in for nothing. ie. license plate holder, a nice one or maybe Mini tee shirts or key rings. I would have gladly swaped the bag for a real nice key ring and shirt. Anyway I'm real happy with the car and dealer, just wanted to hear your experiances.

Snazzy key ring and MINI black rubber floor mats.
But I believe the floor mats were thrown in after they "messed" up on the walkthrough part of showing how my iPod adapter works. They couldn't get the iPod to work for me (it works fine now). So I almost drove away with just a key ring.
They also did NOT try to push any additional warranty coverage onto the final price which was nice.
Overall, I'm happy with my dealer.

The last time I purchased a MINI I got a keyring and floormats. But I've got to mention this as well: On my 40th birthday, I stopped by the dealership and asked my MA if I could take a test drive in a MINI Cooper S Convertible (I was in the market, but didn't end up purchasing for approximately 2 months after that test drive). My MA not only threw me the keys and said take it for as long as you want, but he also gave me a custom Jackie Cooper MINI (our dealership here) hat. A pretty sweet birthday present in my opinion!!

Hey Machine Gun.....sounds like Jackie Cooper dealer in the city is pretty nice. How is the service there? I am currently working in Western Oklahoma and have been thinking of having my MINI shipped down here and would like to know that there is a great dealer here.

Hi guys,
My fabulous MA let me leave with the following:
* A quality keychain
* Union Jack valve caps for the tires (I'd mentioned that I wanted *something* with a UJ on the car, lol)
* Carpet floor mats (after I wavered to the point of annoyance, I'm sure, about whether I'd spend the money...was feeling cheap after dropping so much on the car itself)
* Random MINI swag (old ads, MINI posters for the garage, a diecast of my MINI in MINIature, a MINI travel mug)
* And a stuffed bulldog. I think there's a photo in my gallery of the pup on the roof of the car.
If anyone's ever looking to get a MINI in NYC or the surrounding area, I recommend this MA very highly!!

There was a foul up on getting delivery on my Mini. With that in mind I got the following upon delivery:
Carpet Mat, front and rear
Cooper S rubber boot mat
2 Key chains
Mini Thermos and cup set in carrying case.
Glove box Organizer
Windows and sun roof tinted
All in all my dealer and MA treated me well.

I got a hat, no registation, big scratch in the roof, chip in the door, fine scratches in both rear quarter panels and all over the roof, only half of the chrome grille and pieces missing from the roof rack. They didn't charge me a thing for all these extras.
Did they take care of your issues?
As of now ,after three weeks of owning the MCSca I still haven't got JACK... That's not LO-JACK,that's Jack ----sh@& .. I guess living and buying a MINI in SoCal we don't deserve the courtesy that everyone else gets.... We mostly pay over sticker and have to deal with arrogant sales people....I got mine at Alexander ,my MA was nice but still no freebies... km
Man I hope that they take full responsibility for this and fix your Mini better than new.
I didn't mean to hyjack this thread. If you want to follow this drama, here is the link: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=85048
i got a nice keychain that has MINI engraved on one side and an ad for the dealer on the other. I like it though because it has two sides and one pulls off so you can leave the MINI running and still run back into the house (not that I ever would!). I should take a picture.
also got a little bundle of Optimum detailing products... 4 oz. bottles of tire spray, car wash, wax + a microfiber towel. haven't really used these as I was already set on some other brands of detailing products, but I have used the MF towel and tire spray.
they left out my rubber boot mat after I had requested it, at which point I hoped they would throw it in for free, but they didn't. just as well, they charge $100 for them and Moss sells them for $56. They did throw in the "back" rubber floor mats, which are about the size of a paper towel. But I like 'em.

This thread has already been done, but it was awhile ago, so perhaps freebies have changed, so it's actually good you revived it!
I had the BEST MA in the world (Julie, Classic misses you!!!!!)...
I got at ordering:
No markup
Italian Job DVD
Little die cast model to tide me over
And then at delivery:
Rubber Floor Mats
Two keychains
Margarita kit (inside story related to Dobby - Julie actually caught some of our thread for the Maydayers 2004, and she read where my car was being built, and was going through the prod line drinking margaritas and creating havoc in England. Reports are that Dobby even kicked the sprayer on his way out of paint, and got IB paint all over the place. Proof was when he showed up with a Margarita kit in the boot
)
MINI wind-up car
Full tank of gas of course
And then at the birth of my son:
MINI Bulldog

Is that typical to receive freebies? I have never had that happen with any of my other new car purchases.
I will be taking my english bullie with me to pick up the car, I think he would like a stuffed bullie friend and some mats to help keep paw prints off the carpet

I was a little dissapointed. I got zip, nothing, nada.
I also did not pay for any dealer installed extras. Did not pay the dealer markup or get any extended warranties. Meaning the end result was MSRP.
