22 MPG Highway! whats your worst? (MCS)

this isn't another thread to complain about bad gas mileage, but to see what people's worst highways MPG's have been, also share what kind of speeds you were traveling at and what you were carrying.

i have gotten 22 mpg a few times traveling between utah and colorado, i am sure i can get much worse. my best mpg stretch so far has been 28-29 ish (fully loaded with cargo, with roof bar and bike rack on top, no bike though). last trip (22 MPG) i was by myself, with the equivalent of a passenger in cargo weight, and 4 pairs of skis on the roof, my speeds were between 80 and 85 mph averaging 81.9 mph.

Last highway trip on my MCS averaged 31mpg. Once I bought gas at a different gas station than normal and my mileage in the city dropped to 20mpg and was normally 25mpg in the city. I am sure they sold me non-premium gas at a premium price.

Above 75MPH, the fuel consumption increases dramatically in the MCS. keeping my cruise set @ 70MPH and in sixth gear, my '05 100% bone stock MCS returns 34MPG.

I've been down in the 22 area for mixed driving fairly often, but that is truly terrible on the highway!

On my last fill up, I averaged 28 mpg; this was mixed town/road. I usually get 25 mpg in town and 31 on the open road. I tell everyone that I get 65 mpg when they ask too many dumb questions about Flo. It's crazy how many people go "WOW! That's amazing" and walk away totally believing. I never tell them any differently. Just let the legend grow.

At highway speeds, I'm still working out at over 31.

The worst though, was a week that was completely around town.
I had 2 of my mates from the UK over for a visit, so we had Silver Bean running heavy or really heavy (four of us for one day) and I managed to knock it all the way down to about 25 mpg.

Unfortunately, I have been averaging 18.5 mpg mostly driving daily an 18 mile stint on "the 405" here in LA. Average speed in the am through the Culver City section is about 8 mph….

Gasp… I think I'm beginning to contemplate Road Rage as merely an outlet to maintain sanity…

That's almost exactly what I averaged with my 2002 MCS on that sam stretch of road before I got my MC. Now I'm averaging about 28-30.

yeah i hate how people automatically assume a mini gets the mileage of a hybrid. my neighbor continuously asks me my mileage and i continuously respond around 26 mixed driving (which to keep on topic with the thread worst ive gotten mixed was 21, so i guess probably like 24 ont he highway portions that equates to) he then proceeds to say how his v8 lincoln pulls 22 in a way tp put down my car. his ignorance to the fun of a mini, and the true point of it (of being fuin while maintaining reasonable mileage, not to get great mileage) is really beginning to bother me , i think ill pull your plan though next time sissy, should get himt o shut up for awhile

I've actually been really surprised by my gas milage. I average around 31 mpg. My worst has been 29 mpg. I thought a supercharged engine would do much worse than that. Granted, I'm not much of a speedster...unless I have to be. I drive it pretty hard about 2 to 3 times a week. I figure I at least deserve a little reward every now and then.

Going by the OBC, the MCS has been getting between 17 and 21 mpg city only.

The LR3, ~9-11
